I lived through a Nor Eastern in New Jersey.

It was really exciting at first. Natures fury is a sight to behold.

Then it slowly became terrifying as I realized that once it had started there was no way to escape it until it was over. It cracked the house in half and totally flooded the beach house I was living in and trapped my car in a garage (because of the old fashioned swinging doors) behind a sand dune that had filled the streets. I stayed upstairs until the roof cracked open.

Had to be rescued along with all the neighbors (many of whom were in their pajamas) in a "deuce and a half" and taken to a shelter.

What a day (and a night) that was. Met a lot of folks in the shelter. What a way to meet people in New Jersey.
