Walmart Begins Exiting the Healthcare Business
Walmart announced plans Tuesday to close all of its doctor-staffed clinics around the country as it shuts down its entire Walmart Health division after determining that the centers weren't a profitable business model.

Who knew you can't make money selling health care to rednecks that have no health insurance?
Don't you worry red states...health care is job #1 for the nodfather as soon as he is elected...it is scheduled for week #216.

Most of these clinics are located in states that have not expanded medicaid. Healthcare facilities in those states were already 62% more likely to experience closure than in states that have expanded. Rapidly growing population segments in those states faced with increased distance between them and their closest healthcare facility, many now requiring more than hour of medical transport in the case of emergency. People are dying because of the decisions that politicians in those states have made.
As for walmart, they summed it up pretty well with this statement. "escalating operating costs create a lack of profitability that makes the care business unsustainable for us at this time."
Makes me wonder what their expectations were and if they were losing money or just not making enough. Either way, this is a decision that walmart has made and it will hurt their employees, customers and communities where these clinics are located. Other facilities have closed due to Walmart, Amazon and others in the retail space moving into the market. It will take a while for those markets to adjust to this loss.
