Russian leader also suggests Ukraine is somehow involved in the attack without providing any evidence.

"We know that the crime was committed by the hands of radical Islamists, whose ideology the Islamic world itself has been fighting for centuries," Putin said in a televised meeting on Monday.

"This atrocity may be just a link in a whole series of attempts by those who have been at war with our country since 2014 with the hands of the neo-Nazi Kyiv regime," he said, referring to Ukraine."

"Putin didn't mention the affiliate of ISIL (ISIS) that claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamic State in Khorasan Province has said several times since Friday that it was responsible, and ISIL-affiliated media channels have published graphic videos of the gunmen during the attack.

After the ISIL affiliate claimed responsibility, United States intelligence backed up its claims. French President Emmanuel Macron said France has intelligence pointing to "an ISIL entity" as responsible."

Politics makes strange bedfellows.

Stalin signed a non aggression pact with Hitler.

His previous sworn enemy.

Is this the Same?

Israel has become so Nazi like that Ukrainian Nazis could easily be along with them on this.

I mean... they're both Ethnic Racists. Why not work together?

Stalin saw benefit in splitting Poland with Germany even when the Nazis were massacring communists throughout Germany.

Israel also helped ISIS when the Russians bombed them in 2015.

You twist logic into a pretzel for no reason... well, other than to make excuses for Putin.

There are such things as facts.

One of those is that only 2 percent of the voters in the last Ukraine election were Nazis.

We had more than that in this country.

Russian leaders have been blaming "Nazis!" for every bad thing that happens since Stalingrad. Surely you know this.... OK, maybe you don't.

Putin is in a bad place.

I think he may need to choose focusing the efforts of the GRU/FSB on defend Russia from outside threats, or ensuring that his regime remains in power.

ISIS may see a wounded bear and may want to pounce.

I was looking around for links to support what I have seen.

There is this from a couple days ago...

Russian Opposition Blasts Putin's Broken Security Promises After Moscow Attack
www.themoscowtimes.com

... Russia's opposition has slammed Vladimir Putin's broken security promise in the wake of the Moscow concert hall attack, saying the country's intelligence agencies were too focused on hunting Kremlin critics instead of actual threats.

Questions have swirled over how the country's powerful security apparatus was unable to thwart the deadliest attack in Russia in two decades " even as Western counterparts issued public and private warnings just two weeks prior.

"What is striking is the catastrophic incompetence of our security services," said Ivan Zhdanov, the former head of late opposition leader Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation.

For Putin, a former Soviet spy and one-time head of the FSB security agency, accusations of an intelligence failure could sting.

He came to power on the final day of 1999 promising Russia security as rebel insurgents launched a spate of attacks amid war in Chechnya.

Putin's first years as president saw militants storm a Moscow theatre, taking more than 900 people hostage, and the Beslan school siege -- in which more than 300 people, mostly children, were killed.

After that, he chipped away at civil liberties and launched an escalating crackdown against his opponents, which he justified by the need to stamp out the terrorist threat.

"For decades we have been told that the curtailment of our rights is necessary for security," Zhdanov said in a post on Telegram over the weekend. ...

OK, my first comment... major kudos to The Moscow Times.

Those journalists seem to have death wish.(I have a different expression from my Fraternity days of decades ago, but it would only be criticized as sexist now because, well, only males have balls...)

Yet, those reporters report as they do.

I'd advise them to avoid windows....
