New FBI data confirms previous indications that crime in the U.S. declined significantly in 2023, continuing a post-pandemic trend and belying widespread perceptions that crime is rising.

When I venture out into the places where cows and blades of grass have more electoral power than actual human beings who live in places where people actually want to live I always get a question or two about "isn't the crime there, like, rrrreeeeaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyy bad????"

I used to be more patient when I tried to explain to the idiots who ask such things how stupid their questions are, now I tend to say things like "what the ---- are you talking about???" before I walk off mid sentence during their explanation.

when you google "crime rates in US" then the attached article pops up fast...then a few others...but NPR reported this 5 weeks ago. It sat dormant all that time and in the past 24 hours it started showing up.

If that's not proof the media is invested into bad news over good news then I don't know what is.

I understand why someone in Kansas thinks the crime rate in New York or Chicago is rising when the facts say otherwise.

But what I don't understand is why someone living in New York or Chicago think the same thing.

77% of Americans think the crime rate is rising. That's a lot and you know most of those respondents live in or near an urban area where they think the crime rate is rising.

A few weeks back in Chicago one guy told me how bad crime is in Seattle and another one told me how bad it is in Detroit.

It happened on the same day, one on the south side, one downtown.

Both said they felt safe in Chicago.

I have no doubt many people say there are areas with rising crime. Point is: there are more areas with decreasing crime, and that has been true the last four years.
So yes, yet another way I am much better off than I was four years ago.

The crime rate always mirrors the economy. When there are economic opportunities there is less frustration and anger in society. When there is economic angst, there is more anger in Society, more drinking, and more crime. Despite Faux Spews lying to their viewers about the economy, inflation, and the crime rate skewing people's perceptions, they see that their personal economic situation is much different than their perception of the economy at large. Hence crime rates fall, and continue to trend down. Overall, people will stop believing the Faux lies as the Biden reelection campaign will start reminding people exactly how bad things were four years ago.

The rate decreased, but still an increasing rate...

The 3 percent increase, however, was lower than 2022, when violent crime went up by 8 percent from 2021

Well ya know everyone thinks they're special these days so any little affront is deemed criminal...so perhaps in their own little bubbles they feel victimized... wounded... in need of comfort, medication, and above all justice.

On the other hand, perhaps the effects of all those illegals whom studies have shown are less likely to commit crimes... You know the ones the Biden Admin let flood in...
