Recent investigations by The New York Times and The Marshall Project found that between 2007 and 2016, there was no link between undocumented immigrants and a rise in violent or property crime in those communities.

... During the current presidential campaign, the vitriol has been intense. Just in the last few months, former President Donald Trump has spoken of immigrants as criminals and mentally ill people who are "poisoning the blood of our country." Florida Gov. (and former presidential candidate) Ron DeSantis said migrants suspected of carrying drugs across the border should be shot, without specifying how drug smugglers could be told apart from other migrants.

However, research indicates that immigrants commit less crimes than U.S.-born people.

Much of the available data focuses on incarceration rates because that's where immigration status is recorded.

Some of the most extensive research comes from Stanford University. Economist Ran Abramitzky found that since the 1960s, immigrants are 60% less likely to be incarcerated than U.S.-born people.

There is also state level research, that shows similar results: researchers at the CATO Institute, a libertarian think tank, looked into Texas in 2019. They found that undocumented immigrants were 37.1% less likely to be convicted of a crime. ...

The study also suggests that there's a real fear of getting in trouble and being deported within immigrant communities. Far from engaging in criminal activities, immigrants mostly don't want to rock the boat. ...

@#1 ... immigrants mostly don't want to rock the boat ...

I've noted that aspect in my prior comments.

The consequences of being accused of a crime for immigrants is far worse that those for Americans.

Republicans are not known for their truthful claims.

Without their constant lies they would have nothing.

And even if it was true now we can blame Trumpy for any unsolvable problems at the border.

Because he told us to.

"A lot of the senators are trying to say, respectfully, they're blaming it on me. I say, that's okay. Please blame it on me. Please."

And the bigots don't like it.

As an immigrant I would like to split this into two categories.

Legal immigrant, and undocumented upon entry immigrant.

We know the undocumented upon entry immigrant has already broken the law, is this counted in the data?

Is there a reason it's not spilt into two categories?

I see road side popup restaurants on Monterey highway, these are not legal, they aren't arrested though. Are they citizens? Probably not. But I am open to asking them.

Someone once said the laws are for the middle class.

I believe this to be true in California.

That's been documented for a long time at least 20 years. CATO Institute did a study.

But if they were not here at all, there would be zero crimes by them. Also there are so many incidents/crimes that your media never explores, or reports, such as US citizens killed by an illegal crashing into them...

"But if they were not here at all, there would be zero crimes by them."

That's true, but that's also unachievable so as a policy goal it's a non-starter.

And if you thought it was going to become policy, to round up ten million people and deport them, tell who pays, and how? Doing that will take a lot more government manpower than we currently have. We will have to build detention camps the size of cities.

And in terms of preventing crime, this would be highly ineffective, since natural born citizens commit more crime.

Who allowed them to cross our border when a 2billion dollar wall would have prevented the crime and need to deport? Build the wall. Then tell them if they stay they will be charged and incarcerated until they go home. Use biometric trackers. This is our country. We owe Americans a safe country not invaders.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) in 2017 estimated that the cost of constructing a border wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border could range from $15 billion to $25 billion. This estimate was for a 1,933-mile wall.

Parts of the wall that were built are already easily defeated.

Robson is definitely a MAGA Cult mouthpiece, maybe even a Russian troll.

What a funny thing to say as we approach Spring Break and Yankee brats go down there in droves to trash hotels and beat up hookers in Cancun.
"The media" doesn't report most local news which is what those crimes would be. In fact, most crimes of any stripe don't make the headlines so stop being such a baby because your special crime doesn't generate enough interest. White collar pig brains are committing bigger crimes than the pettiness you are whining about.

You know some American men kill their wives, embezzle their businesses and reinvent themselves elsewhere... like Mexico.. a very popular spot that sort of thing... you gonna report that too?

The US Military bombed the $#!T out of Iraq and probably killed a million people based on the gossip of a disgruntled expat working as a cab driver... isn't that a crime?

And just think, none of this data could have possibly been collected if Joey Brandon hadn't opened the border up for anyone to walk through and collect their free pony.
