Kindergarteners across Florida may soon be taught a few things about Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin and Fidel Castro as lawmakers signed off on legislation requiring that the history of communism be taught in lower grades.

It should definitely cover the success of Cuba in achieving a more equal society with better health care than the US despite the ongoing attempt by the US to destroy it with a ridiculous embargo.

Eskamani said that with Florida's Republican-dominated state government having advanced plenty of school book requirements and Black history standards which cloud or erase historic events, she doubted this latest demand would be properly carried out.

LOL, legislating in Florida.

A high-school government class which has been required for graduation also includes 45 minutes of instruction on "Victims of Communism Day" which covers communist regimes through history.

I wonder if they have a "Victims of Imperialism Day"

or

A "Victims of Fascism Day"

or

A "Victims of Manifest Destiny Day"

or

A "Victims of the Slave Trade Day"

or

A "Victims of Capitalism Day"

or

A "Victims of American Exceptionalism Day"

Friends, don't let your kids grow up to be Conservative.

I do wish Bugs Bunny could just cut FL loose.

In DeSantis's defense, he probably believes Karl Marx was the silent one with the curly blonde hair.

Is that why thousands of USans flee to Cuba on innertubes each year?

It's so weird. Hundreds of thousands of Spanish speakers are sneaking into the US. You would think Cuba would be a more idyllic place to sneak in to.

A history of communism?

Hmm.

Are kindergartners going to be educated in all dead religions, or just this one?

Communism is not dead nor is it a religion. It is an ideology. Communism is based in the concept of the abolition of all religions.

Never heard of China?

Maybe we should get you into one of those Floriduh kindergarten classes.

Russia is more socialist than communist. Russia is a communist country that failed to achieve the ideal of communism and settled for semi-Socialism.

"Communism is not dead nor is it a religion. It is an ideology. Communism is based in the concept of the abolition of all religions."

Communism was a religion based on the abolition of competing religions. Marxism and Christianity could have actually been closely aligned. Marx was just not willing to share the stage with another god.

And you think communism is still a thing? I mean, outside of history?

I've seen left-wing wierdos in Portland flying the hammer and sickle, as well as Russian invaders in Ukraine, but I don't think anyone views communism as a legitimate economic system or form of government anymore. Do you disagree?

#15 | POSTED BY MADBOMBER

Yes. I disagree.

Communism is not a religion as there is no diety to worship. Just like the philosophy of Buddhism is not a religion but a philosophy or an ideology or a way of life.

While no country has ever achieved pure communism (just as there are no pure capitalist dates or pure democracies) yes there are countries that profess to still be building a communist state.

Communism is still the official ideology of the ruling parties of China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam. And to a lesser extent, North Korea. (Wiki)

Portland sucks but it's not for the reasons you think, and communism isn't one of those reasons. I wish you Feral MAGA'ts would quit using big words that you don't know the definition of. You make yourselves look like uneducated troglodytes when you do.

I grew up just outside of Portland. During the BLM protests, Portland was the only city I saw where protesters were carrying the hammer and sickle. Maybe there were other cities where the commie battle flag was raised equally high...I just missed it.

"Communism is still the official ideology of the ruling parties of China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam. And to a lesser extent, North Korea."

Communism was always an abstract idea. In fact, the whole basis of communism is that, in a post-socialist society. Content workers would not need the government to manage the economy. It would occur as the natural product of happy workers giving each according to ability and taking according to need.

There is no question that China's communist party still runs the show, but they may be further away from communism than we are here in the west.

"protesters were carrying the hammer and sickle."

If Capitalism was achieving their goals, they wouldn't be advocating for a different economic paradigm.

Hopefully you can understand that.

You'll need to walk me through that one. Free markets are what occurs when individuals are permitted to interact with each other for their own self-interest. And it works.

Technically, the same conditions that allow for the free market would also support communism. The problem is that communism requires sacrifices that don't exist in the free market. Which is why humanity has favored free markets. Human nature was the one thing that Marxism couldn't overcome. Which is why all the "communist" countries found themselves stagnant in the socialist stage of that evolution, preferring instead to adopt more free market principles.

Capitalism may be better than most economic systems, were it not for Crony Capitalism (don't whine, look it up), and what has become synonymous with it, Trickle Down and Supply-Side economics.

Throw in the the tax cuts as Deficit Spending, and you've got an even worse system.
