That would eliminate a bunch of fake "money" from the system.

It would work the same way pressing a button and wiping out all federal student debt would.

Republicans still trying to pretend Trickle Down your leg economics works again! It didn't work under Reagan, Bush or Trump so we can conclude it does npt fu**ing work! Never did, never will work! But the GQP still tries to pretend it does when they absolutely know it does not.

If only the rich paid taxes like they used to back when America really was great for working people. You know, when progressives were in charge. (Economically if not socially, but if we try it again we can include women and minorities this time.)

This is absolutely sustainable.

Any country with currency sovereignty can have anything it wants.

In this country we want militarized police departments in the middle of nowhere and for Jeff Bezos to have helicopter pads, so that's what we get.

Americans don't care. There's the problem.

If the deficit is your measure then the choice is clear.

Trumpy added ~7 trillion for a ~33% increase

Biden - added ~ 2.5 trillion for a ~9% increase.

I'd love to know what your measure of success is. America is still the top economy. America is still where MILLIONS are trying to migrate to. America is still where non-millionaires become millionaires (by the MILLIONS every year, btw). America is still the leader in many international forums. America is still the wealthiest nation.

So, what does "Never did, never will work!" mean to you? Now, I'm not saying it is the best system. I'm not saying it's what will lead us to the promised land. But, it does work. And we are a shining example of that. It's not trickle-down economics that doesn't work, it's the abuse of it that causes the problems.

And before you try to call out bias, know that this response is very similar to what I tell people about Socialism. I have some very right leaning friends who say that Socialism doesn't work. That it has too many negatives. And my response is always, "What doesn't work? There are many civilized, industrial nations under Socialism and they are doing fine." And their response is always then met with, "It's not Socialism that doesn't work, it's the abuse of it that causes the problems" because that's what every model always comes down to.

If someone knows a better way, by all means please spread it across the country. Problem is, there are no "better" alternatives. There are just other alternatives that provide some positives to our negatives but introduce negatives of its own. For example, the people of those Socialist countries aren't sitting back and enjoying lives free of government bureaucracy, they are fighting problems that result because of Socialism. No matter what system we go to, especially these days, the focus will always be on how bad we are because nothing is perfect. Add in partisan ideology and it exponentially increases the pain points.

Not according to your Dear Leader.

If we are doing so well why are you trying to elect a dictator who claims we have become a S****hole country and only he can save it from Doom like a Caesar coming to save Rome from its worries and troubles with democracy?

The top 10 percent of earners bore responsibility for 76 percent of all income taxes paid, and the top 25 percent paid 89 percent of all income taxes. Altogether, the top 50 percent of filers earned 90 percent of all income and were responsible for 98 percent of all income taxes paid in 2021.

Who Pays Income Taxes? - National Taxpayers Union
n total, about 59.9 percent of U.S. households paid income tax in 2022. The remaining 40.1 percent of households paid no individual income tax.Nov 23, 2023

Households paying no income tax by income level U.S. 2022

So LegallyYourDead, assuming you are not the of the 40.1% who do not have to pay federal income taxes, they you, like us, are those who are only paying the remaining 24% to the treasury. Seems the wealthy are paying their 'fair share' and then some.

The real problem is that, each and every year, the government spends much more than revenues taken in and it is about time the govt starts to make serious spending cuts to services and programs as our national debt is already way too high and more taxation alone cannot fix that in the least.

Those are the ones that should be the ones paying practically all of the taxes.

Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households.
