Clarence Thomas Hires Clerk Accused of Allegedly Sending Racist Texts

Scandal-plagued Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas isn't doing himself any favors. Starting next term, one of his four new law clerks will be Crystal Clanton, a recently-minted law school graduate who was pushed out of a conservative youth organization in 2017 after a reporter uncovered virulently racist texts she sent to another employee.

New Yorker investigative reporter Jane Mayer unearthed a text from Clanton to another TPUSA employee in which Clanton wrote, "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like ---- them all ... I hate blacks. End of story."

My view so far...

Either Justice Thomas vetted this person, and that vetting discovered Ms Clanton's history. And she was hired anyway.

You would think sending a text that reads, "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like f*** them all ... I hate blacks. End of story" would disqualify this woman for any job that engages with the public - but especially so for a position supporting the nation's judiciary. And Clarence Thomas has the nerve to say bigotry is antithetical to Ms. Clanton's personality? What the hell is wrong with him?

There's only a certain number of ways to access someone else's text messages, and some of them are criminal in nature. If she can't produce the text, it's defamation, and if she can, there would be further questions as to source. I'd say that this bears investigation.
Anyway, who knows better, judge C or some split tail from VF claiming to hold a hot text?

The linked article says the reporter viewed screenshots provided by one of Clanton's colleagues atTurning Point USA. I'm sick of Trumpers trying to convert their own stupidity and laziness into questions that imply a scandal.

Does a single text truly express how she feels about black people? I doubt it. Context matters. Does she have a history of this type of thing? Well, when I read the linked article only one example was cited. As if Thomas is going to hire someone who openly hates him because of his skin color.

Oh, and ooh! She made an Arab terrorist joke. Prominent people on the left say far worse things about their enemies (I view the left as opponents whereas the left view people like me as mortal enemies, but I digress).

The best Vanity Fair has in its very short hit piece is one text and one terrorist comment.
