More from the article...

... Another industrial slaughterhouse cleaner has been accused by the U.S. Labor Department of illegally employing children as young as 13 to clean dangerous equipment on overnight shifts, according to a temporary restraining order filed in federal court Wednesday.

The Labor Department said that Tennessee-based Fayette Janitorial LLC illegally employed 15 children to clean a Perdue Farms poultry plant in Virginia and nine to clean a Seaboard Triumph Foods pork processing plant in Iowa. ...

Overall, the Labor Department reports a 152% increase in children illegally employed by companies since 2018. Many of them are Central Americans who came to the U.S. as unaccompanied minors. More than 300,000 children, most from Guatemala and Honduras, have entered the U.S. by themselves in the past three years, according to the Department of Health and Human Services ...

Americans and their faux outrage over child labor. The same Americans purchase imported trinkets every day from countries using child labor.

This is what the undocumented have to do to feed themselves in this country. If you're for open borders - stfu.

@#3 ... This is what the undocumented have to do to feed themselves in this country ...

As the website for the Customs and Border Patrol union once said...

An excerpt from the Border Patrol Union webpage that was deleted during fmr Pres Trump's term:
web.archive.org

  • Walls and fences are temporary solutions that focus on the symptom (illegal immigration) rather than the problem (employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens).

  • Walls and fences are only a speed bump. People who want to come to the United States to obtain employment will continue to go over, under, and around the walls and fences that are constructed.

  • Walls and fences will undoubtedly result in an increase in fraudulent documents and smuggling through the Ports of Entry.

  • Walls and fences do not solve the issue of people entering the country legally and staying beyond the date they are required to leave the country, a problem which will undoubtedly increase as more walls and fences are constructed.
  • [emphasis mine]

Sure tell that to California, tell California to tear down its wall. Walls work, California is a perfect example of walls working, sure there are holes but they can be mitigated. Again not perfect, but much more than a "speed bump".

The idea isn't to stop all illegal immigration, its to create so much friction that fewer and fewer people come. Unlike the chaos Biden has created on the border. Obama, and Trump both worked create this "friction". Biden has done away with it.

Goes back to my OpenBorder solution at POE, give citizenship to all that cross.

Finally detain and deport illegal immigrants, and watch the flow slow to a trickle.

Open up the POE to allow more migrants into the country legally.

You start locking up business owners over this practice and watch how fast it stops.

Employers don't knowingly hire illegal immigrants. Employers hire firms to handle the contract work fulfillment. The firms are run by recent immigrants probably even associated with Cartels to pay off debt. Its an old game but brought to life in modern times because there is an abundant amount of illegal labor.

--------. They know and they look the other way. Most 13 year olds do not look like adults.

Employers hire firms to handle the contract work fulfillment.

Then lock the owners of those firms up.

What I see is you making excuses for the abuse of minors. How republicrap of you.

A few of these people in jail would end it, but you go right ahead excusing it.

for hiring illegals or 13 years olds?

2 separate issues unless they are both.

we will continue to look the other way on hiring illegals.

Not so sure about the 13 year olds.......

    @#13 ... *wink wink* *nudge nudge* ...

    Exactly.

Hiring contractors instead of employees seems to be the reason why employers use contractors.

It gives them the ability to deny.

~Honest Judge, when I saw that 13-year-old cleaning that dangerous equipment I had no idea how he was hired. You need to talk to the contractor.~

Taking a step back, where are most of the meat-packing plants located? Blue or red states?

Will the locally-elected law enforcement and Judges want to go against those plant-owners that push money into the campaign coffers of those locally elected officials?

This goes back to the underlying question....

Why don't Republicans want to solve the border problem?

My answer: because the border problem benefits them.

Why don't Republicans want to solve the border problem?

My answer: because the border problem benefits them.

    Because they benefit two ways.

First they get to blame Biden and use it as a campaign issue over and over even though when they are presented any sort of bill to start fixing the issue they vote it down over and over and over again.

Second their owners get to hire underage unaccompanied minors to work for minimum wage in dangerous jobs. If they die or are injured there is plenty more streaming in.

For Christ's sake you can't be this stupid.

Do business owners knowingly hire undocumented workers? Are you kidding me - hell yes they do. This is how so many places in this country work period. If there is a large Spanish speaking work force, the work is dirty and/or hard, and the pay is low - you can bet a significant number are undocumented. My company's owners bought a company in California and were advised to not probe the status of the work force too hard. "Do what is legally required to alleviate our responsibility under the law" is what we were told. They all had the documentation they need to work. Over time I figured out about half were undocumented. Which explains why they were making the wages they were when we bought the company.

AVERAGE Americans do but Politicians and business owners don't. No matter where your leanings virtually all Americans want a "fix". Politicians don't want to "fix" it because they know an actual fix that works will cost them politically AND they lose the ability to use immigration as it is today in their campaigning.

We could solve a lot of problems with a law attributing crimes of a corporation to the board of directors. Unless they can show otherwise, crimes of the corporation were at their direction. If they didn't know they weren't doing their jobs and the stockholders should hold them responsible.

I disagree. When polled, Average Americans say they want this fixed but they are too dumb to know better anyway and politicians and business owners know this.

Average Americans are not the obstacle nor are they the solution.....they'll bitch and moan about it in the meantime but they won't switch parties or their votes over this issue.

IOW, Average Americans don't really care.

So for republicans it's more important to harm biden than to address their most pressing issue?

If trump had put climate improving legislation on the table, dems would have pounced on it instead of refusing to give trump a win. They actually want to solve problems instead of just capture power.

You mistake standing up to fascist propaganda with whining. I can understand how you could mistake them since standing up to fascism is something that your party stopped doing when they became the cult of a con man. It's probably a foreign concept to you.

I spent a little time working for a top 10 global food manufacturer. While that company did not hire undocumented labor directly, C-suite was absolutely aware of the fact that the farms and processing plants we partnered with relied on undocumented labor. Even in the cases where we owned the farms/plants, we would still contract out much of the labor to give us that all important degree of separation. Many of those partners were little more than shell companies.
If those employees were working directly for the company then nearly 40% of the workforce of that huge US based agrabiz would have been undocumented.
