Poll Ranks Biden as 14th-Best President, With Trump Last

The Presidential Greatness Project ranks presidents by surveying experts: "Biden, in fact, makes his debut in our rankings at No. 14, putting him in the top third of American presidents. Trump, meanwhile, maintains the position he held six years ago: dead last, trailing such historically calamitous chief executives as James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson."

They write off the utter ineptitude and unsuitability of Trump for the role of president as "Meh" and shrug, while losing their sheet at the imperfection of the only alternative. The names often change position - Ike, for example, is more highly rated now than he was years ago - although doubtful if dramatically so. Trump's lock on that dead-last position certainly isn't going to change anytime soon, though. Unless he gets in again. In which case he'll compete against himself for worst prez, ever. And, win or lose, he'll still be the biggest lewzer. So much winning.

It's too late to change horses now but the GOP is heavily invested in the mission, with or without Trump. I'm almost certain that the GOP is worried about the domino effect of Trump's convictions are having on moderates. The GOP doesn't have the luxury of puffing up their candidate on TV when things look bad. They have to look at facts, district by district, even down to polling locations and street numbers. They will know long before it's announced if Trump has lost the election.

I agree with you that it doesn't seem possible the GOP can find another candidate for 2028 as treasonous as Trump but I don't doubt for a minute that they're working on it.

They're not going to give up the mission.

It's too soon to tell but I'm getting a hint that the domino effect of Trump's convictions in New York, although under a dubious appeal, resulting in the loss of his primary source of income, property and, more importantly his power, are giving Speaker Johnson pause. Johnson's future as a Trumpling might not look as bright as it once did.
