One time a few years ago, I parked in the lot of a local post office.
My car has a manual transmission, and I left it in neutral.
But I did pull up the parking brake.
Well, that was not enough.
After a number of years, the cables of the parking brake had become, I'll describe it as, useless.
The parking brake did not work.
When I came out of the Post Office, I noticed my car was not where I left it, but touching a car across the lot.
I left a note on that car giving my contact info, explaining what happened.
I was never contacted (there was no damage to the other car).
Now, two things have occurred. The service department at the dealer has fixed the parking brake. It now works.
I also put the car in gear (usually first gear) when I park it.
So now, the car does not move unless I want it to move.
