I'm more concerned that TSA didn't find it on the way there, but Turks and Caicos airport security did?

TSA has always been more security theater than actual security.

@#2 ... I'm more concerned that TSA didn't find it on the way there ...

Why?

TSA is concerned about the use of such ammo in flight, not the transport of such ammo.

The ammo, by itself, does not pose a threat? Or does it spontaneously explode mid-flight?

The TSA likely saw the ammo, but no gun, and said, ~OK no threat on this flight.~

Who puts ammo in their carryon? AN IDIOT.

A Chainsaw, Bullets, Bear Spray: TSA Reveals 10 Oddest Things Found in Airport Luggage (2022)
www.newsweek.com

... As perhaps an honorable mention, the TSA reported on December 27 that several knives were found sewn into the stuffing of a teddy bear that resembles Darth Vader. ...

Other than that, I'll leave it with the link.

This dork is from the OKC area. The story has gotten a lot of play hereabouts. Our junior US Senator, Plumber Butt Mullin got involved, probably explaining to the T&C government that the perp is an American, so let him go. After another month in the cooler, he will be permitted to leave the country and will return to Okiehomie a hero for having fought the evil foreigners ...

I'm sure all of the people who felt we should have left Britney Griner in Russia will feel the same way about this guy.

@#9

Is there an equivalence?

If so, how so?

Is there an equivalence?

Bringing illegal things into a foreign counrty does sort of qualify.

Seriously, who the f____ has loose ammo in their luggage for ANY reason?

"Seriously, who the f____ has loose ammo in their luggage for ANY reason?"

It's happened to me on several occasions.

I live in Germany and have for five years. All my guns are in the US.

A few months ago, I got up in the middle of the night and stepped on something sharp. It turned out to be a .380 round. I have no idea how it wound up on my floor.

I've also found a handful of .410 shotgun shells in a backpack after flying. I just forgot they were in there.

That said, rules are rules. This dude (and others who shoot) should maybe be more vigilant when traveling. If you pack when you're out hunting or hiking, make sure your ruck is empty before getting on a plane and heading to another country.

Also, even if you have ammo or other prohibited items, TSA isn't going to arrest you if they find them. You just can't take them with you in flight.

I also had a knife stashed in a pocket one time. I just had to take it back and stick it in my car.

#15 idk for sure but this might not have anything to do with flying. But just in your possession.

This is an interesting question.

"Who puts ammo in their carryon? "

-----------.

"Also, even if you have ammo or other prohibited items, TSA isn't going to arrest you if they find them."

It's a pretty hefty fine for guns. Not sure about just ammo but it is prohibited in your carry on.

Unloaded firearms: a fine of $2,050 to $4,100, and a criminal referral
Loaded firearms: a fine of $4,100 to $10,250, and a criminal referral

Yeah, what a chore, carefully checking your bags before packing to see if you've got some gone-astray ammo or weaponry on board ... assuming you've previously traveled with ammo or weaponry in your bags, in which case check twice.
