Lack of Soaps, Shampoos deodorants, Feminine hygene essentials, washing machines, et al, are all economic/societal barricades and handicaps which deeply impact poor families across America. At a certain point, soap has tremendous personal value if you have no access to it.
My daughter works in a grade school which is just beyond the City school district. (read 'no City public funding') Her primary job involves case work one on one with children and parents of below poverty level families. Particularly with kids who skip school.
Quick example:
Student repeatedly missing school, primarily Thursdays and Fridays. My Daughter's job is to proactively get that child back into school every day.
She had a meeting with student and asked her why. The girl answers. "I got no clean clothes, and no deodorant. Mrs Colleen". Colleen gets her some soap, deoderant, shampoo, and works with private charities to fund a laundryroom with donated free washers and dryers in the school building. Students drop off laundry in the morning, and bring home clean clothes at end of the day.
That working people are in dire need each and every day, 365 days a year, of survival essentials is a concept Eberly never ever considers when he makes the 'Major Winchester' snide asides, and laughs out loud at how funny the desperately poor in America are. Makes him LOL, he tells us... And yes, desperate people will resort to desperate actions to survive. Don't believe me, The Donner Party is exhibit A.
Colleen has instituted a Free Store with donated coats, clothes, shoes, soaps, furniture, water, linens, towels, blankets etc and nonparishible foods. Open every day. She has a cadre of friends of the School who no longer do garage sales, they donate. When they are at garage sales, they search for items to stock the free store, not Antique Road Show fodder.
Eb, I'm assuming that your hatred of the poor is born of lack of personal exposure to real persons in real poverty in your sheltered life. If I am wrong, well, not the first time.
Republican Humor always punches down on the poor. Typical Liberal humor punches up at the obscenely well to do.
You likely lived a privileged life from birth, and simply are unaware that kids miss school for reasons which reek of intolerable poverty and deprivation. If you were aware, I'm sure you would have turned out better than you have. You are deplorably cruel, and, seemingly, quite proud to display it publicly.
