I watched the video.

Yea..it's pretty well exactly what I thought it was. I said "marketing gimmick" and it is.

I bought one (haven't received it yet) for the sake of just having it.

btw...he didn't mention something I would have evaluated. I am guessing the book will have a cheap paper smell. I like smelling the pages of a new book. High quality paper has a certain smell. Cheap paper has a certain smell.

Also, you can sort of tell if a book is genuine leather from pictures. I already had it pegged to be vinyl.

It's pretty well exactly what I thought it would be.

As far as being offended, personally, if the book had been edited I would have been offended.

But...what I want to know is why he got his and I haven't!

Laura,

From the video I think the reviewer was more upset about the cost and poor quality, considering he devoted so much time talking about just that.

A scam? Funny(sad) how your robotic fealty to TFG has you consciously allowing yourself to be ripped off.

I received my copy today.

The paper does not smell cheap. It has a good clean pleasant book smell. No pages are stuck together. It does not indicate it is leather but it does have a pleasant feel.

It is overpriced if you compare it to other study Bibles that come with annotations, a concordance and maps.

Also, Bibles have a problem because there are so many pages in one book the paper is very thin and sometimes you can see the backside of each page.

And it gets even worse with large print copies because the number of pages increases. This book is large print.

This one does have bleedthru minimally. I've seen much worse with Zondervan expensive copies.

The guy's review is reasonable.

I feel better now.

Going to my son's today to eat with his family. He is a fine man and has brought up good children.

"No pages are stuck together."

The highest praise any book review can include!

Its King James.

Its just too difficult for me to understand what's its saying.

Proverbs 29:1. Huh?

Hardeneth?

Proverbs is an excellent first book to read. But it helps if you an understand it.

Hopefully your God won't get bored and make a bet with devil and destroy your son's life, his home, his livestock and kill all his kids and you too! (See the book of Job)

But don't worry. If He does kill you all on a bet with the devil He might (if He feels like it) replace you with more kids and a new dad. (praise be to Him!) As long as your son worships Him properly that is. Not that THAT will make you feel any better because you would be dead.

So make sure you all obey and worship Him properly now or like a petty tyrant who is only interested in his own select little tribe and in receiving blind adoration from them He will destroy you on a whim like a narcissistic drug lord or mob boss (or Donald Trump!! ) who would rather destroy you and all those around you if you don't obey and worship them. (and then send you to eternal damnation!)

Anyway enjoy your God!

I'm so glad that you received your Bible today BillJohnson. I'm glad that you weren't scammed. Enjoy your new Bible.

Of course, there is always this from Bishop Robert Gruss on Biden, 'I'm not angry at him, he's just stupid'.

Of course, there is always this from Bishop Robert Gruss on Biden, 'I'm not angry at him, he's just stupid'.

On Friday the diocese provided CNA with a statement from Gruss in which he argued that his remarks "were taken out of context."

"I was speaking in the context of forgiving the president and any people in government who offend us by their words and actions - that we cannot harbor resentment toward them because in doing so, it would be sinful," Gruss said.

"We must forgive them if we are to be free," he said.

"I used the word stupid' in reference to President Biden, recognizing that it was poor judgment in my choice of words," Gruss said. "It was not meant to be disparaging, and I apologize."

"I will continue to pray for the president and all political leaders, that they may seek and be guided by the Spirit of Truth," he said. "I encourage people of all faiths and goodwill to pray for our great nation."

Nice meaningless backpedal. 'Judge not lest ye be judged' mean anything to you Father? Aren't you ignoring this biblical directive straight from Jesus in your criticisms of Joe Biden's understanding of the Catholic faith?

In absolutely every connotation, the word "stupid" is disparaging. I'd like Father Gruss to give us a couple of examples where the statement he made would be considered nondisparaging.

Tony,

Accusing people of judging others can be tricky.

When you accuse someone of judging...well...you're judging.

Funny how that works.

"oh..I'm not judging..I'm just pointing out the truth"...yea...forget it...you can't get there from here.

I've been a Christian a long time and seen and heard a lot.

It's always been a delicate walk living in this secular world, being part of it yet not being part of it.

Judging others yet managing to keep your own hands clean.

We're all sinners which is what it really boils down to.

Sometimes I think that is the point Jesus is making so often when he told us how we should live.

We can't do it...we can't please God on our own....so we need Jesus to mediate on our behalf on judgement day.

Timothy 2:5, which states, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus."

Speak for yourself white boy! I am no sinner. And a damn all believers who think I am.

"Accusing people of judging others can be tricky."

Not when that person blasphemes, and say, tells another poster he won't be seeing her in heaven when she dies.

No tricky part at all; it's clearly laid out in all versions of the Bible.

Truth,

"I am no sinner."

If you're so sure of yourself, why do you get upset and offended?

Doesn't sound as if you are at peace with your beliefs.

#16 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2024-04-21 11:46 AM | Reply

I get upset and offended at the attacks against women, the marginalized and simple basic decency.

Since there is no god, there is no divinity, thus no divine law to be transgressed. But you wouldn't understand.

You're the same as a gun nut.

No...I figured out the magic number of Bibles you have to own and you're quaranteed a spot in heaven.

Yeppers...you can buy your way into heaven.

Legal,

"Courts literally judge others. Religion is nonsense."

Interesting the court system for centuries has had you swear in on a Bible to tell the truth.

In England, the courts were swearing in on a Bible going back to the Middle Ages.

Some jurisdictions still do today.

You might call religion nonsense but the courts haven't thought so.

LOL, an atheist swearing on a bible is the epitome of nonsense.

But you wouldn't understand.

@#24 ... Interesting the court system for centuries has had you swear in on a Bible to tell the truth. ...

...and, if the Bible is not "your truth," then you can lie in court?

So, if I am an atheist, and i swear on the Bible to tell the truth, I then can lie because I do not believe in the Bible?

What about non-Christens? Can they lie also?

Is that what you are saying?

The courts think it's perjury, if you swear to tell the truth and then lie.

The Bible isn't part of that equation.

"Today it is well settled that the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution denies the government any authority to coerce a person into performing a religious act, including swearing oaths on a bible."

Clown,

Seems to me atheism has evolved into such an organized group, they have evolved into a "religion".

They have a manifesto and deserve the same treatment as any other religion.
