Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Francis Wilkinson: In a single decade, from 2013 to 2023, the percentage of Americans saying that religion is the most important thing, or among the most important things, in their life plummeted to 53 per cent from 72 per cent. The MAGA-Christian merger has produced a gusher of political power, directing state force against disfavored minorities.

Turned?

No. They were already hate factories.

He just made it fashionable to hate openly.

Yeah Trump is awful in many ways but the churches needed no help when it comes to hate.

This sinner thinks that those who are turning away from church have not yet been exposed to the right church. I'm not talking about the one that requires a gun to enter, or the one with the MAGA-hat mob at the door, checking to keep the colored out and the women quiet. I'm talking about the church that asks its parishioners to go out and do some good works.

Remember: Jesus loved sinners and the repentant, but had no place for hypocrites. Look at the phony christians running around behind their orange leader-grasping for wealth, turning away the stranger at our country's border, not caring for those who need a meal or a place to sleep, or even a good, used pair of shoes...

Ask Bible salesman Donny if this is one of his favorite passages:

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe"and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
-James 2:14-24, King James Version (that which Der Dotard is shilling).

Make Trump pray and make the MAGA-hat mob crawl on their bellies, like the Salamanca brothers...

Talibaptists would fail the test Jesus gave the disciples about going to heaven in Matthew 25: 31-46.

Absolutely fail it. Christ's aligns with Democrats, the only U.S. party whose principles adhere to it.

In 1956 it would have been Republicans. Bernie Sanders could largely run on the 1956 Republican Platform.

It's good to see the decline in the mental illness of religion.

And it IS a mental illness, a form of mass delusion. Adults should know that their invisible sky wizard isn't real.

He has the Midas Touch if gold were abject failures. Just add US Evangelicalism to the list.

They used to give a ------ about average people.

It was Democrats who gave us SS, Medicare, Medicaid, food and water safety, OSHA, etc etc.

All Republicans have been focused on since Reagan have been tax cuts for people and corps who don't need them.

Good. The sooner America becomes a majority secular nation,
the sooner it will return to logic, reason, and sanity.

Leave 'church stuff' in church for the churchy folk,
and divest it from the remainder of American social life (eg. politics).

White Evangelicals are 14 percent of the population in the US.

20 years ago they were more like 25 percent.

Atheists make up 4% of U.S. adults, according to our 2023 National Public Opinion Reference Survey. That compares with 3% who described themselves as atheists in 2014 and 2% who did so in 2007.

Interesting, though not unexpected, that it's the extremes that get all the media play, and therefore in today's world, push the messages (and the money) and get the power.

The truth of the matter is that I know numerous spiritual Christians who disdain Trump and reject everything he stands for. It takes a special mix of stupidity and hypocrisy to be a "true" Christian and support Donald Trump. And, not by coincidence, that seems to be a perfect description of a typical Trumper.

Actually Gen Zers are realizing now that leftist marxist Democrats like Biden and open door to America have stolen everything and their last chance for a future and success. They are gaining hope by forgetting the sleazy democrats and now recognizing hope and church. Democrats are there to take and not give you hope. These kids need hope not Joe Biden.

Hmph Corky...I found a different article by Pew Research.

www.pewresearch.org

3 in 10 adults in America now considered 'non-affiliated'. As in either atheist or agnostic or none of the above...

That would appear to combine atheists and agnostics and none of the above rather than just atheists.
