Lol revenue as % of gdp never changes 17-21% regardless of taxation rates.

When was your golden era? 1960?
What was revenue?
How was spending?

It's a spending problem... Wake up Corky before it's too late.

Time to cut bloated military spending.

Of course.

Millions of seniors who labored for decades making the profits for these billionaires don't deserve retirement or health care once their productive lives are over.

Obviously 1Nut cares not for the increase in income inequality and poverty that comes from tax cuts for billionaires, particularly when it's deficit spending.

But hey, being a leftier than thou attention troll has it's costs.

People do care about it... especially as it relates to poverty and inequality.

Well, people on the left do. Politicians who will do anything to get votes not so much.

And, btw, grabbing you by the nuts and yanking is not synonymous with clutching pearls.

lol... I see a that nod is still as good as a wink to a willingly blind horse.

Wealth inequality is easily connected to tax cuts for billionaires, as per the link, and deficit spending for tax cuts for billionaires allows more of them.

Is this thing even on?

You lied earlier about your Pew link.

You gonna keep going?

And you're going down the wrong road anyway.

Just what exactly is your point?

That you can prove deficit spending is correlated with wealth inequality?

Stop.....I'm not asking you to do that. I just said people can't make the connection and they don't care about deficit spending.

And neither do you.

"what the tax cuts were"

In the spring of 2019, many taxpayers were surprised to find that they had to pay more taxes than in the previous year. Others received significantly lower refund checks from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), even though their financial circumstances hadn't changed.

How did this happen? Changes related to the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA)"which took effect on January 1, 2018"may have played a role. Signed into law by President Donald Trump, the legislation was the largest overhaul of the tax code in three decades.
...
The highest earners were expected to benefit most from the law, while the lowest earners were believed to pay more in taxes once most individual tax provisions expire after 2025.

It wasn't all cuts. The SALT cap hurt some filers, like me.

You see, there are rates AND deductions ... ..you can adjust both sides of that.

Personally, I might be better off with it all expiring

But I don't know.

Correct.

As is well understood, most of the cuts went to the already fabulously wealthy.

If you say so. My taxes are simple. Before they got rid of the 1040EZ I usually just did that. ADP takes the right amounts out of my paycheck that I never pay or get back more than a few hundred bucks, State or Federal.

I don't really think about "rates." I just hope I don't have to write a check in April.

I also pay a higher effective tax rate than a homeowner, since I can't claim the mortgage interest deduction.

A couple of days ago I added my voice to someone else's comments about self-checkout and one cashier in a supermarket.

My comment was on Kroger complaining they can't get employees (falsely, I think). I said if they paid a good, living wage they'd have people lined up out the doors to apply.

Kroger's profits went up 39% over last year.

Like most corporations, they didn't raise wages on their own, nor then they invest in job creating facilities as Republicans touting the Trump/GOP tax cut claimed. It went to stock buybacks, dividends, and management bonuses.

"Where in that link does it connect wealth inequality to deficit spending?"

It is a fact that our national debt grew proportionately to the tax cuts for the 1% which Trump says he wants to continue and the connection to poverty is easily seen in the GQP Fascists who try to blame our debt on those programs for the poor and ignore the fact that the cost for those programs is far less than the trillions in tax revenues lost through huge tax cuts for the richest Americans. And then they go after our Social Security which is paid for through payroll deductions all our working lives and is not paid out of general revenues paid by federal income taxes. No surprise Rick Scott is trying that big lie in his Senate campaign today and who just hopes we have forgotten that the biggest fraud case in the history of Medicare was committed by him and which was the source of his wealth; he quite literally robbed Medicare and profited hugely by doing so. So his campaign today is basically a warning to voters to watch out for thieves like him. If Republicans weren't so damned dumb guys like him could never get away with crimes while sheep continue to vote for him.

That's a fair point. That tax cuts for corporations like Kroger don't help employees. Certainly not the rank and file employees. But you can't convince the average voter that raising corporate income taxes will help that same employee either. Even if you can make that argument.......you can't make it with an average voter.

Danni, I'm not saying there isn't a connection. I'm saying it's a connection that 99% of people can't make.

Correct. Watching the Federal government accrue a spending deficit is something most everyone has experienced their entire lives. Almost every year.

They watch the party out of power criticize the irresponsible behavior of the party in power and then when the roles are reversed....then the same thing happens.

No, they cannot see where deficit spending impacts them personally even if they are bothered by it.

Neither can you.

However, they can manage their own finances enough to judge what they can afford. Well, normal financially conservative people can.
