"When our Republican colleagues introduced their bill to rename Dulles after Donald Trump, I said the more fitting option would be to rename a federal prison," Connolly said in a statement.

"I hope our Republican friends will join us in bestowing upon Donald J. Trump the only honor he truly deserves."

The newly named Fed Prison will off free orange-scented soap on a rope.

That's both funny and pathetic at the same time. This is what you get for $174,000/year?

I'm sure this rates way up there with things that need immediate attention.

4. No, but the GOP-led Congress isn't spending a lot of time passing useful legislation.

And yeah, it's damn inconvenient that a US president is still engaged in trying to become a ruler for life.

The Democrats shouls wait and see if fmr Pres Trump is sentenced to a federal prison and then, if so, name that one after him.

And this is what we're reduced to. There's no time for governance, but there's plenty of time for derision and fund raising. Congress acts like a frat house full of wanna be entitled trust fund A holes.

Well why not rename an airport? It's harmless enough.

Republican Congressman Melts Down Asking What His Party's Even Doing (November 2023)

... [Texas] Representative Chip Roy began yelling at members of his own party during a House hearing.

"One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing. One. That I can go campaign on and say we did," Roy said. "One!"

"Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me one material, meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done besides well, 'I guess it's not as bad as the Democrats,'" Roy lamented. ...

@#14 ... Good thing your Republican Party refused to pass a Border Bill ...

A bill that their Republican colleague in the Senate mostly wrote, and a bill that contained nearly all they were asking for.

Yet, the House Republicans refused to even vote on it.

Why?

Well, since Dems are in the minority and can only get legislation to the floor via a discharge petition, performance is all you have left. Take up your concern with Tiny Johnson and Frozen Cavewoman Skank who are in the majority party that sane members are fleeing because they either have no idea how to govern, or simply refuse.

Hummm, I wonder if a state petition or voter referendum would be effective in that effort? At least for state prisons, but it might aid in the effort to rename federal facilities as well?

#19 | Posted by lduvall at 2024-04-07 10:43 AM | Reply

Performance can be important. Getting legislators, forcing them to take public positions on legislation is an important part of getting politicians' position on things in the public record.

"I thought you said there were no problems at the border???"

Guess not.

If there was a problem, Republicans in the Hotse would have introduced a bill by now to address it.

@#25 ... It's even worse that they needed to thanks to ...

... fmr Pres Trump stopping a bi-partisan bill during his first term.

A bill that, like the recent one, would have addressed much of what the Republicans wanted.
