Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

While speaking about the potential loss of U.S. auto manufacturing jobs to foreign countries, former President Donald Trump said if he isn't elected, "it's going to be a bloodbath for the country." President Joe Biden's campaign quickly accused Trump of fomenting "political violence." "If you actually watch and listen to the section, he was talking about the auto industry and tariffs," Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump's campaign, told the Washington Post, adding that "Biden's policies will create an economic bloodbath for the auto industry and autoworkers."

That explanation seems the most plausible, given the context of Trump's comments. The Trump campaign also noted " rightly " that one of the definitions of "bloodbath," according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is "a major economic disaster." We did a Nexis search of TV news transcripts and found numerous instances of bloodbath being used in that way.

It's a bit hard to know what he was talking about with his incoherent rambling and topic shifting constantly.

A person who staged an insurrection, actively encouraged it on twitter while it was occurring and expressed his support that perhaps his Vice President should be hanged does not get the benefit of the doubt when using violent rhetoric.

If it bothers a person that Trump's statements are always going to be viewed within the broader context of his own actions then I can only assume that person has turned their back on justice and the Constitution and stand in support a fraudulent, rapist insurrectionist and his enablers.

Trump's comments about blood baths are understood in the context that he wants one.

Anyone want to participate in dead pool about who a new President Trump first extra-judicially murders?

Fat Nixon says nothing without knowing what he really means.

He plays with words saying just enough to pass along a message to his rabid deplorables while maintaining enough of a vague message to have an explanation.

No normal person would say the words "bloodbath throughout the US" while referring to the building of a car plant in Mexico.

Coming from Mr "Proud boys..stand back and stand by" everyone knows what he meant.

To claim otherwise is stupidity.

"A person who staged an insurrection"

Then charge him and prosecute him already. Oh, that's right...There's no evidence.

Now MAGATS are denying Trump has even been charged and is standing trial in DC? You really have turned your back on justice and the Constitution.

It's ridiculous. Everyone has access to the tapes of his hate-filled Nazi rallies. We know what he means, even if he's too Adderall-addled to.

If those that don't follow are like him take it to mean violence, his followers are even more inclined to "understand" his message. Trying to say he "literally" said "X" is ridiculous with him.

Especially when what he said the choice was "Elect me or else."

"Now, if I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath, for the whole - that's going to be the least of it. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country. That'll be the least of it."

"Least of it" reiterated. What does that mean?

People that need to look for assurance can pretend that his words are limited only to the threat of importing Chinese cars into the United States. Just like he tried to hide his intent by inserting one use of "peacefully" into his speech at the Capitol, only to repeatedly confirm by word and action he was happy with the ensuing violence.

He started this entire thing holding up the violent insurrectionists that he's promised to pardon as "patriots" - further making it obvious he is threatening/giving approval for more violence when no Chinese cars are to be imported into the United States from these factories.

Violent rhetoric, as he does. Again. No substance. But the results we all know too well.
