McConnell doesn't have many years left on earth and has decided he's fine with watching America burn down.

Simplest explanation for me is good old honest blackmail.

Did anyone actually expect McConnell to show backbone and principles?

@#4 ... Did anyone actually expect McConnell to show backbone and principles? ...

When I read the headline, the first thought that came to mind was along the lines of, ~what's so remarkable about Sen McConnell showing the lack of a backbone when it comes to the future of democracy in the Country?~

He's about to be retired, and doesn't want to wake up with a MAGAt breaking into his house with a hammer and zip ties like Paul Pelosi did.

How is this a "turn around"???

What a shocking event. Party leadership supporting their nominee for POTUS.

"China-loving wife, Coco Chow" would've done it for me. But Mitch? Just another hapless, hopeless schlub.

McConnell has always been a Party before Country type of guy.
In this, nothing has changed.

He was and is against Trump, because he understands what long term
damage it will do to the Conservative Brand. However, again,
Party b4 everything...

Vile creature. He cannot become worm food soon enough.

By sticking up for country over party, McConnell could have salvaged some of his integrity. History will probably not see him in a favorable light. The sad part is, as the former leader of the party, he probably doesn't care about either the party or the country.

What a shocking event. Party leadership supporting their nominee for POTUS who they all know is a criminal.

FTFY

Actually it is shocking. Relatively speaking. And a display of political cowardice. And no amount of trying to pretend this is normal will ever convince me that this is normal. You will never be able to normalize this kind of cultish behavior by republicans. Except maybe in your own mind.

"In the past in the U.S., party members would dissociate themselves from disgraced leaders in order to preserve the party and their own reputations," said professor Nick Smith, who teaches ethics and political philosophy at the University of New Hampshire. "But now President Trump seems to have such a personal hold on the party " more like a cult leader than a U.S. president " that the exits are closed as the party transforms into his image."

Who incited an insurrection. Party before County. If they had an ounce of integrity they wouldn't support Trump.

Jeff would still support ------- (the fraud and sexual predator) even if ------- (the sexual predator and fraud) insulted his wife and sent a mob to kill him.

That's how Trump got Ted Cruz to support him.

It looks like Biden may have to actually try to compete in this election. The lawfare is t working out as hoped. The GOP is going to support who their voters choose in the primary.

I know that stings but he ain't going to be able to get away with a basement non-campaign this time around.

If the leadership of the Republican party were worth their salt. They would disqualify Trump due to his inciting an insurrection but they aren't. As far as Biden competing in this year's election. He is just like he did the last time. Only difference is he can have rallies and do meet and greets unlike last time when COVID-19 was running rapid and he didn't want people getting sick. Unlike Trump. Try again Jeff.

Sounds like jeff is thrilled that -------, the man he detests, is the republican nominee and he seems quite thrilled that ------- might win.

It looks like Biden may have to actually peel the sour grapes the clowns have to eat! Good thing his campaign isn't dependent on Trumpanzee's legal woes so he has lots of time to do that for the big babies. The GOP is going to support who their voters choose in the primary because they want to hand the election to the Democrats.

I know that stings but Trumpanzee ain't going to be able to get away with a basement non-campaign this time around.

McConnell and Trump destroyed Americas judicial system together. They might as well die on the same bed.
