NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine has a right to use its Western-supplied weapons to defend itself against Russia, even if that includes striking targets within Russia's borders.

... "This is Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, which is a blatant violation of international law," Stoltenberg told Radio Liberty during an interview on Tuesday.

"And according to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense. And it also includes strikes against legitimate military targets, Russian military targets outside of Ukraine. That's international law, and of course, Ukraine has the right to do that to defend itself."

A NATO official confirmed with Financial Times on Thursday that Stoltenberg meant that Kyiv's right to self-defense included striking Russian military targets outside of Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly warned against Ukraine using its Western-supplied equipment to launch attacks on Russian territory, saying that doing so could risk escalating the conflict. The warnings had originally made allies like the United States hold off on supplying Kyiv with long-range weapons capable of reaching Russia, but NATO allies have since given Ukraine such arms. ...

It's significant in that it shows the obvious desperation of the Ukrainians.

Even with massive NATO backing they are Losing fast.

The Frontline will probably collapse this year. Then it's NATO facing them.

A negotiated peace settlement would be better, for everyone.

Ukraine will never regain the lost Oblasts. They are gone.

Facing hard reality is not weakness. Russia was never going to lose this.

That's why I was against helping the Ukraine,it just got hundreds of thousands of people killed and Ukraine destroyed and the Russians will take the Donbass anyway.

NATO has no credibility left. When the Ukrainian war effort collapses and they lose completely, NATO will just shrug and move on.

What will happen to Ukraine?

Have you even considered the possibility that this war was for Nothing?

Diplomacy could have protected them more than defeat will.

This is a Western concession because they are scared to death Ukraine will do a peace deal within the next few months as Ukraine is not scared of Poland, Romania, and Hungary reclaiming territory and then it ceases to exist as a country. You see this 'peace deal' stance with the Ukrainians not lying about Navalny any longer. This whole war was a giant waste for the West.

Calling into question widespread perceptions of lower-income Americans and their level of political engagement, a new study released Friday detailed the high turnout among poor voters in the November 2020 elections--particularly in battleground states which helped deliver victories for President Joe Biden and Democrats in the Senate and House--following a concerted effort by campaigners to engage with low-income communities regarding the issues that mattered to them in the election.

Now you are posting to support what I wrote? Yes, poor people are Democrats and Democrats target poor people - which is why Democrats are so hellbent on keeping people poor as they know once people have a career and assets, they vote GOP. So, the Dems incite poor people each election cycle and then implement policies (like open borders) to create ever more poor people.

Or maybe poor people are waking up to the fact that Republican leadership increases poverty. And it's just happening while Trump is in charge of the GOP:

Between 2000 and 2010-14, the poverty rate increased in 96 percent of Republican districts and 86 percent of Democratic districts.

Almost every congressional district saw its poor population grow in the 2000s, owing largely to growing suburban poverty.
...
In contrast, just 10 districts registered a significant decrease in their poor populations. Eight of them were largely or entirely urban districts led by Democrats, including four neighboring districts in New York (Reps. Clarke, Jeffries, Maloney, and Rangel) and two adjacent districts in Los Angeles (Reps. Schiff and Becerra). Two of the 10 were predominantly rural Republican districts (led by Rep. Jenkins in West Virginia and Rep. Rogers in Kentucky), both of which lost population overall during this time.
...
Just 15 districts saw poverty rates fall from 2000 to 2010-14. Eleven are predominantly urban Democratic districts, including those in New York and Los Angeles where the number of people in poverty fell, as well as Rep. Norton's district in Washington, D.C., and Rep. O'Rourke's district in El Paso, Texas, which saw poverty rates decline amid overall population gains.

I still haven't seen where "Putin wants all of Ukraine".
They apparently plan now on reclaiming Odessa, and when Medvedev says "maybe on to Kiev" I think that means if Zelensky keeps being intractable and refusing peace.
"Taking all of Ukraine" is actually the last thing Putin wants, because then he would have NATO on his border again, which he definitely does not want. He wants the Russian inhabited former areas of Ukraine to be restored to Russia, which is now accomplished, and he wants Ukraine that's left as a buffer.

You lie!

Putin's clearest answer yet came in a speech delivered on Monday. He believes that Ukraine is an illegitimate country that exists on land that's historically and rightfully Russian: "Ukraine actually never had stable traditions of real statehood," as he puts it.
...
The speech is consistent with a body of statements from the Russian president going back years, ranging from a 5,000-word essay on Ukrainian history published last year to a 2005 speech declaring that "the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster [in which] tens of millions of our co-citizens and compatriots found themselves outside Russian territory."

Better to have your enemies be honest about what they believe so there is no backstabbing in elections - and that is who Eberly is. A ------- Mitt Romney clone that will whine about the current situation that will then cast a vote to ensure the situation only gets worse and then wonders what went wrong. It is people like Eberly that caused California to become a lost state.

Claudio is so far right that Romney is a RINO. The republican noninee against obama claudio probably voted for. that's impressive stupidity even for a trumper.

You are so far to the left that you don't know this is the overwhelming position from the GOP - so much so that Pierre Delecto cannot be re-elected even in Utah. Step out of your ------- bubbles once in awhile.

It was the first thing he wanted.

NATO wouldn't have been on his border, it would have been on his puppet state's border. That's the point. It's always been the point. He's going to have to settle for a lot less.

You suffer from the same binary affliction so many others here do.

I Know.....you' can't see it. It's unfortunate.

He just wants to take the capitol, imprison or window Zelensky and install a puppet regime.

The rest of the nation will fall in line.

Ukraine is a sovereign, democratic country, which Putin illegally invaded. He is guilty of war crimes. Anyone claiming that supporting Ukraine is "for nothing" has turned away from US values, in support of Russia. Full-throated fascism, wrapped in the flag and holding a Bible.

Repubicans hate the poor, so reading CLAUDIO's, cherry-picked pew research question: (one statistic, LOL) Party affiliation by household income, the conclusion that most poor people are liberals is not the flex he thinks it is. We're going to start seeing "most women are liberals" start to come down the pike, because Repubicans hate women more than they hate poor people.

Say what you will about California, at least we still stand for freedom and democracy. Women can get health care, without big government restricting what medical procedures they can undergo, based on the religious theocracy that the red States, who suck at the teat of Liberal taxpayers, have adopted. California isn't preventing its citizens from traveling to other States, like the fascist red States.

Fascists are in the minority, and we will be making the case in November.

It is binary - the next president will be Trump or Biden. If you think there is another option, you are delusional. It appears you understand the damage done to the country by Biden - so, you lose your right to whine about it if you vote for anyone BUT Trump. Of course, you will use weasel Romney logic to say that you are not going to support Trump but you are still a Republican - but you aren't. You are a RINO and you should just be honest with yourself that you have supported the destruction of our country brought on by the Democrats. Comparing you with Snoofy, at least Snoofy is not smart enough to know better.

That you can write a statement like that with a straight face and no sense of irony is indicative of just how far down the rabbit-hole we have gone. Propaganda works, so many brainwashed cultists...

Nixon was a criminal, who put us on this path. Reagan picked up where Nixon left off, the Bushes kept it going (Dubya was a total disaster) and PO1135809 did virtually nothing to benefit US citizens. I'm glad he's siphoning off all of the already-depleted RNC funds to pay for his lawyers, though. And taking credit for ending Roe v. Wade. We won't survive another PO1135809 presidency.

Oh, but we do realize that.
Even Eberly realizes that.

Mitt Romney and John McCain and Liz Cheney didn't leave the GOP.
The GOP left Mitt Romney and John McCain and Liz Cheney.

"the next president will be Trump or Biden. If you think there is another option, you are delusional"

Thanks, Captain Obvious. You're talking about a 2 party system.

I'm talking about any and all issues that affect us........and that it's not binary to people who can think beyond a limited binary lens.

You're even retarded and immature enough to insist that whomever you choose to vote for means you have to defend everything they do.

"You are a RINO"

True. I've explained plenty of times why I'm a registered republican. It's NOT to defend what the GOP does. It's so I can vote in elections that matter the most.

You don't understand that any better than snoofy or whineloudly.....and that's because you're on their intellectual level. Congrats on that, BTW.

You're a child.

What you are describing is a cult, not a party. And the head of the cult is a russian puppet who attempted to end american democracy.

Thank you eberly for helping California go from being the 5th largest economy in the world to the 4th largest!

Take your wisdom of economic improvement to the deep south. They really need it there.

Only 18 months too late. At this stage, I am ok with Ukraine using long-range missills and bomb the hell out of Russian armed forces bases.

"I despise Eberly more than I despise you -------. Eberly is a Mitt Romney clone - and a RINO is nothing a true conservative wants near them."

That's an interesting statement. When I was young, being a Republican meant limited government, social conservatism, and maybe most of all...being ready to destory commies at a moment's notice.

I feel like your definition of RINO is anyone who doesn't fall in line behind Trump. Like the conservative former Senator from Wyoming. But Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan couldn't be more different. Would you consider Reagan a RINO nowadays?

Reagan, the man who granted amnesty to immigrants?

He'd be chased out of the GOP by the MAGA cult.

Much like the Bushes, McCains, Cheneys, Romney ...

"Reagan, the man who granted amnesty to immigrants?"

And Reagan, the man who made it his mission to fight commies wherever they may be found. Somehow I think Ukraine would not want for much of anything if Reagan was still the leader of the GOP.

"He'd be chased out of the GOP by the MAGA cult."

Agreed.

Trump leaves no room for dissenters.
