Thom Hartmann: Increasingly Americans are being forced to choose sides: are we with democracy, or will we elect Trump and join Russia, China, and North Korea in making the world safe for dictators?

Trump and Putin are collaborating to tear America apart. And Trump and his allies in Congress and across the spectrum of rightwing hate media aren't even trying to hide it ... But the United States is very much a battlefield today; instead of bullets and bombs, the weapons being used are digital, psychological, and social.

excerpts

"Donald Trump has been hit with 31 charges under the Espionage Act of 1917, a law that was last used in an internationally high profile case to execute Julius and Ethel Rosenberg with the electric chair at Sing Sing prison in 1953.

He's charged with stealing hundreds of top-secret documents, taking them to Florida, sharing them with people who have no security clearance, and lying to the FBI and the National Archives about it.

Of greatest concern, a 10-inch-thick binder of raw intelligence from our spies and sources in Russia has gone missing. This is the sort of thing that Putin would pay billions for, and maybe has."

'

"Things were picking up in 2019, as Putin was planning his invasion of Ukraine while Trump was preparing for the 2020 election:

" On July 31, 2019 Trump had another private conversation with Putin. The White House told Congress and the press that they discussed "wildfires" and "trade between the nations." No droids in this car ...

" The following week, on August 2nd, The Daily Beast's Betsy Swan reported that Trump had just asked the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for a list of all its employees (including all our "spies") who had worked there more than 90 days, and the request had intelligence officials experiencing "disquiet."

" Within a year, The New York Times ran a story with the headline:

"Captured, Killed or Compromised: C.I.A. Admits to Losing Dozens of Informants."

The CIA then alerted American spies around the world that their identities had probably been compromised by then-President Trump himself."

Trump never had any loyalty, he has no honor, and he's a coward. He expects loyalty from others around him but he will not give it in return unless he sees an advantage in it. No advantage, you're expected to take the fall, as so many in the past have done, ruining careers, lives, and even serving jail time or fines.

He has no honor, he tells you right up front what he'll do but you can't depend on that since he is a liar as well. Most of what he says, sort of makes you back up and wonder at times, is he real or is it just another lie.
That binder that came up missing, some one obviously got the info from it. Spies don't just come up dead or compromised in groups. One here, one there, yah, it's a job hazard. When your spy network is obviously been exposed, then someone learned just where they were and who they are.

Trump had to be shamed into visiting the troops as all presidents have done, it's a tradition. He has no feeling of support for the troops beyond what he can get them to do for what he wants. Over and over he has stated the disdain he has for the troops.

This man is not fit to be POTUS and it was a mistake the first time for him to be there.

They're brazen because other repubs and merrick garland have proven too cowardly to stop him, when they have all the power to do so.

"McCarthy's ouster is dramatic evidence, if redundant, about the state of the modern GOP. A party that used to have an instinctual orientation toward authority and order " Democrats fall in love, went the old chestnut, while Republicans fall in line " is now animated by something akin to nihilism. The politics of contempt so skillfully exploited by Donald Trump is turned inward on hapless would-be leaders like McCarthy with no less ferocity than it is turned outward on liberals and the media."

Incredible to believe that Trump supporters are on the side of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. Dictators, communists and anti-Americans.
