This has been a fascinating thread. Repeatedly the real-life experiences of blacks has been ignored (eg. Shannon Reeves), in favor of generalities to more often than not cast persons of African inheritance in a poor light. Many years ago, the Dred Scott decision said that the words and actions of any person of African inheritance could be utterly disregarded. The legacy of unfairness remains today, for poor judicial decisions can be overturned, new laws can be enacted but personal sentiments are heavily influenced by cultural legacy. Ralph Ellison wrote the "Invisible Man". Sojorner Truth allegedly said "Ain't I a Woman". I thank God for their eye-opening witness of life in the United States. In the same vein, I thank God for the candor of all the writers in this thread who have, by and large, let me see that real experiences and aspiration of United States citizens of African inheritance is considered unimportant. By the way, I share many Republican sentiments and maintain membership in the Heritage Foundation. I maintain registration as a Democrat and have been elected to be an Election Judge, because I seek to minimize the interpersonal violence that I encounter as an independent, accountable, self-actualizing humanist woman.

This reality is indeed America. Those who say racism is a thing of the past do not have a clue. I am a Magna cum Laude graduate of Yale. I cannot enumerate the times that others have approached me using monosyllable words as if that is all that I can understand. I have had my skin touched and my hair pulled (I suppose to see if it was real) when it reached my waist. When wearing business attire while traveling professionally, I have been approached and openly propositioned as if my profession was that of a sex provider rather than that of a manufacturing manager for Procter and Gamble. By the way, racism is not the exclusive domain of people of European descent. On the contrary, these behavioral aberrations are human deviations caused by the desire of rapacious persons (whatever their age and sex) to unfairly hold on to benefits not earned.

Frankly I doubt that Palin actually gave birth to the person who is reported to be her fifth child. She has never been pictured holding the child. Her eldest daughter is still out of school and is the person who is holding the child. A lie is being perpetrated to the American public.

What concerns me is the fact that this nomination effectively consigns a helpless, mentally disadvantaged child to secondary status. At this time, the child needs to bond to both parents to ensure the maximal functioning of the cerebral tissue. In Palin, we see the embodiment of the Pro-lifers. Let the babies be born, rely solely upon God to raise them to productive citizens.
