I, like many others, don't know enough about Bobby Jindal but, from what I have seen, I like. He seems pragmatic and not a strict ideologue, like Newt. Newt, while very intelligent, could never lead this nation...he's just not electable! And Bill Clinton was twice the fiscal conservative that Ronald Reagan was. Just compare the growth in the size of the federal government and the national debt between the two. There's a big difference between the talk of so-called "fiscal conservatives" and the reality of their policies.

I generally agree with that statement but, I think you have to avoid the extremes on the left just as much as you avoid the extremes on the right. The extremes on the left are out-of-control welfare spending. I believe very strongly in providing a safety net of programs to help lower/middle class citizens who are struggling. But, the programs should be designed as a springboard into a middle class existence without incentivising (word?)a life dependent on govenrment handouts.

This country needs to be governed from the center. When the extreme left and right wings of the two parties are allowed to govern that's when things start to turn ugly. That's why the Republicans failed so miserably over the last 8 years. They allowed the extreme, right-wing, trickle-down, imperialists to drive this country into a huge ditch.

Obama will receive a lot of flack from his own party, just like Clinton did, for not being "liberal" enough. I think his biggest challenge will come from trying to keep Pelosi and Reid from spending the country into economic oblivion.

Iran's president is an obvious whackjob. I think most of our allies see that. Unfortunately, they also see that the American president is an idiot. If Iran could get rid of their whackjob of a president like we have unloaded our idiot of a president, I think there is a high degree of mutual respect between the average Iranian citizen and the average American citizen. There is, I believe a tremendous potential for strong, positive and mutually beneficial relations between Iran and the United States.

Last week sometime, the Drudge Report made a big deal of the Gallup poll that showed McCain had pulled to within 2 points of Obama. What he didn't tell you then was that model was one of two "likely voter" models. Gallup's traditional model just posted has Obama up by 8 points. (The other model, the expanded model, has him up by 9 points.)
