For all those who are questioning why did Jesus have to suffer and die, you don't understand God. God is pure light and there is no darkness (sin) in Him at all. Christ had to die for our sins because we cannot go before God in our sin. Jesus took our sins and gave His people His righteousness. Jesus lived a perfect Holy life because he was fully God and fully man and that is the only way our sins can be forgiven. He was and is the only one who can save us. We cannot save ourselves because we are all born sinners and we all sin every day. This is the Gospel (Good News) in a very tiny nutshell. Jesus says "deny yourself, take up the cross and follow me."
