With the changing climate Florida has much less rain than in the past. Areas of my property that 40 years ago held knee deep water year around are now bone dry even after the occasional hard rain. Mosquitoes are not a problem, when I was growing up without air conditioning sometimes the whining buzz of billions of mosquitoes coming through open windows made it had to sleep at night. Those billions of mosquitoes did not cause major epidemic outbreaks. What little spraying the control agents did only reduced populations a few percent, dry weather and drainage projects eliminated most of them. A few mosquito now are not the problem, though disease ridden immigrants might be.
