to be sure, I am reluctant to put on my tin foil hat, Its just that I often follow that slippery slope, and see deploying a combat brigade on domestic soil as just one more injury in that death by inches of the United States we once lived in.

the difference here is that this deployment is pre-emptive. there has not been a major disaster that requires immediate action, they are just hanging out in case of some as yet unnamed disturbance. Is a combat brigade appropriate when a civilian corps could just as effectively deliver disaster aid?

If the US military is used by our government to enforce it's security at the expense of my freedom, you can bet your bedsored ass i will resist. you are right, ill probably end up dead, but i will resist. any US service member who is deployed against US citizens and does not himself resist deserves to be shot at.

our Dear Leaders just made it absolutely clear to the world that Banksters rule this country. some of us already knew it in our hearts- but watching helplessly while lawmakers first shit their pants in fear at the pronouncements of Paulson and Bernanke, then make a closed room deal sometime in the middle of the night against the desire of the majority of americans is heartbreaking. this giveaway only kicks the can down the road, putting our children deeper into debt slavery and delaying the meltdown for few days (or weeks if we are lucky). If you have been paying attention, you will have understood that the goal of the bailout is not to help struggling americans, but to protect the ability of banks to lend money. Nobody ever got out of debt by taking out a loan.

There is a part of everyone that delights in the idea of watching it all burn. In this case it is probably the only thing that can save America as it is knows by her citizens. Wall streets grip on out government needs to be broke for this country to survive. no bailout. let them eat cake, i say.

Your argument depends on the assumption that the federal government is "good for it" and can withstand default on a good portion of those mortgages. Maybe if this was a successful last stand i could see the point in nationalising all those so-called assets- but this is no last stand. wait till WAMU, Lehman, et all pile on. you think you 100k (or even your $50)is safe just because the FED says so? All this does is take the responsibility for the vehicles marketed to China, Belgium, Japan etc. out of private hands and jams it squarely up the public ass. dont forget that F&F have nearly 2 trilion in combined debt, and those assets are likely overstated (the bad bookkeeping was cited as a reason for the move by the gov't)
