Would a 65%-35%, Hillary-Obama division scare the delegates? Would it be seen by delegates as a precursor of things to come, having a candidate with no coattails to help carry the other candidates?

In the matter of distgributions, is the proper role of government to be "Robin Hood," the thief, who takes from some, gives to others, and keeps plenty for himself? How far shuld government go in seizing and transferring wealth, or setting up conditions that accomplish the same thing. What are the areas in which government should do this? Food Stamps? Welfare grants? At what level does charity necessary for survival become egregious action equatable with downright robbery? It's not stealth theft, but more like robbery, because it is coercive.

Could it be that the poor white folks just want to maintain a sense of autnomy and independence rather than convert themselves into medicants dependent on the largesse distributed to them by thieving politicians in exchange for their votes. Isn't this commendable?

You have all of the instincts of a brigand. Buy a mask and a gun. Support gun control so that it's more likely your intended victim is armed, and go forth and rob directly rather than using the government as an intermediary. Or is even that too much work. You'd need to case the joint and take risks. Let the bureaucrat do it for you.

A casual review of the news reports didn't reveal any other information concerning demonstrations. In fact, a tip supposedly identified Floyd as a participant in the crime. This would probably have come from a black person.

Are there any other reports of negative black community response in regard to this chain of events.

Certainly no noteworthy racial agitators appeared on the scene, so it doesn't seem to be a cause celebre such as the Tawny Brawley imbroglio, at any rate, as the situation here appears clear.

The report of community participation seemed to come from a publication whose ideology would lead uninvolved readers to be dubious of the authenticity of the reports.

This confrontation certainly won't improve "community relations," and resulting more antagonistic policing practices will generate hostility. It seems to be a reciprocal thing.

Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, a 12-year veteran and married father of three, was killed Saturday.

One suspect, Howard Cain, 33, was shot to death by police during a chase after the robbery. Another man, Levon Warner, 38, was arrested and charged Sunday with murder, robbery, conspiracy and related offenses.

Officials said earlier that the reward for information leading to the arrest of Floyd had grown to $150,000. Mayor Michael Nutter and other officials had urged Floyd to turn himself in and warned that anyone who helped him would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Liczbinski, who would have turned 40 on Tuesday, was shot responding to the robbery in northeast Philadelphia around 11:45 a.m. Saturday. The suspects opened fire after Liczbinski confronted them a short distance away, shooting the officer at least five times, police said.

Life can be difficult enough for those not burdened by particular peculiarities. We all might try to make life easier for all others, providing particular leeway for those excessively burdened.

It's really sad that people need to create a faux world for themselves in which they normalize their impairments or debilities. We have minorities declaring their "pride" in their distinguishing feature which does not partake of any accomplishment. We have gays proclaiming they are "proud" not to be subject to biologically utile sexuality manifest in heterosexual attraction. Now we have people displaying pride in mental impairment.

I wonder if the word "pride" has not acquired other definitions because of this usage? The word has been appropriated to mean other than its prior recognized meaning.

Well, then again, there does not seem to be a need for any basis for pride. It acn be a baseless exaltation of self based on superficial criteria.

I suppose we can have people declare their pride in their bodily functions, flatulation pride, eructation pride, sternutation pride, defecation pride, micturation pride. Why be proud of these bodily functions? Refer that question to those who have declared their pride in other aspects of their being and promulgated their sense of "pride" in other conditions or acts.

But the real kicker is the US spends twice as much money on health care than EU countries although the life expectancy for many of these countries are longer than in the US.

Basically the US system is the most ineffeicient and expensive as compared to most EU systems and less beneficial.

Well, the burgeoning populations of lesser breeds without the law will outstrip the numbers of civilized folk who don't procreate, and transform the landscape so that everyone is operating at a third world level.

The idolatry to democratic modes will enable the more numerous third worlders to take over the governance of what was once the Western world.

First the West allows the third worlders to enter the West and settle there. Then the give them "rights." 4 Arrested, School On Lockdown After 600 Fight

SOUTH LOS ANGELES Four people were arrested and a school went on lockdown after a fight between black and Hispanic students raged, according to authorities.

Police were sent to Locke High School shortly after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The fight allegedly involved some 600 students.

Some minor injuries were also report. The extent of those injuries was not known but a fire department official said no one was transported to the hospital.

Police were sent to Locke High School, 325 E. 111th St., to quell a disturbance call said Susan Cox of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

It was also unclear if all the people arrested were students.

According to KCAL 9 News, the fight was allegedly between black and Hispanic students.

L.A. goes about things in a big way. Here's a fight in a high school in South Los Angeles involving blacks and Hispanics. It was just a small clash involving some 600 people.

I wonder what the learning environment is like at that school.

Deference to an idea that places value on integration regardless of circumstances in places such as schools and prisons, certainly stirs up conflict rather than creating an edenic environment on the theory that to know each other is to love each other. Would these students be better served in segregated schools where they were not parties to daily conflict with attendant stress? Wash my mouth out with soap, dip my fingers in lye, for thinking such a thought. Are our social programs misbegotten vehicles that create more harm than good?

I'm somewhat baffled here. There is a "bad scene" without white people being responsible? Can't be. How did Bush, the bete noir, engineer this fiasco? It must be Cheney, the eminence gris, who did it. Otherwise all would be peace and light in the valley, er Basin.

Reading through this thread makes me wonder regarding the attitudes of some of the posters. One poster notes that the NYFD test was "dumbed down" to enable blacks to pass the test. Another claims that NOT dumbing down the test would be racist and discriminatory.

Is this a concession to the idea that blacks cannot because of innate limitations, participate in this society without special accommodation being made?

The position of the so-called anti-prejudice proponent is the more racist. But she seems to be unaware of the inherent racism in her position. Her perspective is that blacks being restrained by limited abilities, should be enabled to participate in societal activities by changing the structure of society to enable their involvement.

I agree with her that the consequences of excluding such a large group of people by preventing subpar people from operating as full-fledged members of the society would have consequences that would compromise the society.

The problem is how the actions taken to enable the subgroup to participate, compromise efficiency. A certain amount of inefficiency in certain sectors can be absorbed. But there comes a point where the system will crash, or at best become dysfunctional, if the standards are lowered beyond a certain but yet to be established, base point.

To address particulars, what are the operational effects of "dumbing down" the NYFD test? Were the factors being tested relevant to the ability of the candidate to function in the role for which he was being tested? Since often if not invariably, promotions to higher ranks are made from those who obtain entry level employment, would the creation of a less qualified pool from which to draw people for higher level jobs compromise the functioning of the NYFD?

Does the premise that failure to promote those from a pool of lesser qualified candidates in the proportion of their numbers in the general population, result in the mandated promotion of less qualified candidates? Does this waiver in practice of more stringent standards for entry level hiring redound throughout the entire structure of the department with mandated racially based promotions required by law?

What deleterious effect do such practices have on those denied promotions because of race-based factors? One department did not promote whites for several years, limiting promotions to "lesser qualified" blacks to secure "racial balance." Is racial balance a "value" that is of more importance than competency and ability of the department to function at the highest level attainable?

Just a note. Some years ago, I was at a retreat with some mebers of the UCLA faculty. A chemistry professor and I went for a stroll through the woods. AA was a hot topic at the time. He advised me that the practices could not affect the university because there, decisions needed to be made on competentcy. Boy, did events prove him wrong. As an aside, his elitism supposed that there was no hierarchy of skills among lesser breeds. He seemingly was not aware of the affect on work product of the differences in skills of a plumber, or electrician, for example. First they came for the ...

Screw these bastards. If someone doesn't want to acknowledge his being subject to the dominion of this country by participating in its rituals, then let him be denied other aspects of participation.
