I haven't posted on this board in years. But... "Is this true? Please let me talk to you."
I am so amazed that the horse is so far out of the barn on America becoming so awash in guns that it's hard to tell us from Afghanistan. I'm sure the gun shops are busy this morning all across the land.
No going back now, I guess. Expect violence to escalate over the coming months and years if we're not really careful.
Cops will be even more twitchy on the trigger when making a traffic stop. Racists will be more ready to commit violence. Anger will again spill over into violence. Not good.
Thankfully, most Americans are peace-loving people who want to raise their families and enjoy life with friends. Sad that they are now even more in the crossfire.
I am one who believes firmly that black lives matter. I have not liked that group Black Lives Matter from the beginning, though, especially their rejection of the phrase "all lives matter" as racist, and their confrontational stance. No, all lives do matter. White, black, red, yellow, brown. All lives.
Perhaps America can struggle back toward domestic peace, but it's going to be an effort. And it's going to have to be done on all fronts. Backing away from "America as Afghanistan" might be a start. But good luck.
