Donald Trump found an unusual ally Tuesday night as Trevor Noah tackled the problematic Elizabeth Warren behavior that spawned the president's "Pocahontas" nickname. Noah then made the most unnerving pronouncement of all: "As weird as it is to say, in his own racially offensive way, Donald Trump was being woke."

After Hurricane Maria damaged thousands of homes in Puerto Rico, a newly created Florida company won more than $30 million in federal contracts to provide emergency tarps and plastic sheeting for repairs. The countdown to launch creeps closer and there's still plenty for self-taught rocket scientist "Mad" Mike Hughes to do: Last-second modifications to his vessel. ... Hughes is a 61-year-old limo driver who's spent the last few years building a steam-powered rocket out of salvage parts in his garage. He will travel about a mile at a speed of roughly 500 mph. read more

"A Colorado Health Department survey found there wasn't a huge racial difference in who smokes pot. But the marijuana arrest rate for white 10- to 17-year-olds fell by nearly 10 percent from 2012 to 2014, while arrest rates for Latino and black youths respectively rose more than 20 percent and more than 50 percent."

"Keith Humphreys, who studies drug policy at Stanford University, says Jackson's explanation for the youth arrests mostly rings true. "Police do patrol more in neighborhoods of color, and they also get more calls to respond in neighborhoods of color," he says. And when police show up and find kids illegally in possession of marijuana, they're obligated to do something about it."
