Rep. Blake Farenthold used taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment claim brought by his former spokesman -- the only known sitting member of Congress to have used a little-known congressional account to pay an accuser, people familiar with the matter told POLITICO. Lauren Greene, the Texas Republican's former communications director, sued her boss in December 2014 over allegations of gender discrimination, sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Greene said another Farenthold aide told her the lawmaker said he had "sexual fantasies" and "wet dreams" about Greene. President Trump shared videos supposedly portraying Muslims committing acts of violence on Twitter early Wednesday morning, images that are likely to fuel anti-Islam sentiments popular among the president's political base in the United States. The White House did not immediately respond to questions about the videos. ... President Trump is still privately questioning the authenticity of former President Obama's birth certificate, the New York Times reported Tuesday. A senator, who asked not to be named, told the Times that Trump is having difficulty moving on from his past claims that Obama wasn't born in the United States. Trump led the "birther" movement against Obama, claiming for years that the former president was born outside of the U.S. Obama eventually released his birth certificate to counter Trump's claims.


Lucian Wintrich, White House correspondent for the far-right website Gateway Pundit, was arrested by UConn police after an altercation at the event he was speaking at Tuesday night.

At one point, Wintrich left his place at the podium in Andre Schenker Lecture Hall, rushed up the steps of the auditorium and grabbed a woman. The crowd reacted quickly, swelling with pushes and shoves until police led Wintrich out into the hallway and then into a restroom.
