Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page bragged that he was an adviser to the Kremlin in a letter obtained by Time that raises new questions about the extent of Page's contacts with the Russian government over the years. The letter, dated Aug. 25, 2013, was sent by Page to an academic press during a dispute over edits to an unpublished manuscript he had submitted for publication, according to an editor who worked with Page. ... Page is at the center of a controversial memo from Republican Congressman Devin Nunes, released this week. The Nunes memo claims that in Oct. 2016 the FBI improperly received court permission to spy on Page, whom Trump had named as an adviser to his campaign in March 2016. read more

President Donald Trump bragged to Republican Party officials about his perfect score on a simple cognitive test during a closed-door event on Thursday evening. Leaked audio of the remarks that that was obtained by Breitbart News included a riff on how difficult he found the exam. "Let me tell you, those last ten questions are hard," Trump said. "There aren't a lot of people that can do that." ... Trump said the difficulty level of the exam increased, according to Breitbart, and administrators began asking him to repeat disassociated words at various intervals. He remarked then that the last part of the test was "hard" and a "lot of people" don't ace it. read more

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley slammed Russia at the GOP retreat in West Virginia on Thursday, definitively telling Republican lawmakers that Moscow "is not, will not, be our friend." "As long as their government has the values that it has, and as long as it conducts itself the way it does internationally," Haley said. Haley made it very clear that Russia meddled in the 2016 US election ... While President Donald Trump has expressed consistent skepticism over Russian election meddling efforts, Haley has raised the issue on several occasions, calling Russian cyber-interference in American elections "warfare" in October.


President Donald Trump has authorized the release of a controversial Republican memo, and has sent word to the House Intelligence Committee the document may be made public, a White House official said. There were no White House-initiated redactions to the memo, a House aide said. read more
