Doug Jones Says Congress Should ‘Move On' From Trump Sexual Misconduct Allegations Earlier this month, Alabama's senator-elect called on Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) to resign over groping accusations. Doug Jones said it's time for his fellow Democrats to "move on" from focusing on the numerous sexual misconduct allegations against President Donald Trump. ″People had an opportunity to judge before that election," Jones said. "I think we need to move on and not get distracted by those issues." "I don't think the president ought to resign at this point," he continued. "We'll see how things go." read more

You can trace the history of America's shame, from slave times to the present day, in a set of simple graphs. The first shows the cotton-friendly soil of the Black Belt, then the slave population, followed by modern black residence and today's extreme poverty -- they all occupy the exact same half-moon across Alabama. In 2006, the company agreed to dismiss the case after mediation, according to The Star. Ramsey fully denied the allegations in a statement issued to The Star and posted to Facebook. read more

A vote to impeach President Donald Trump will happen on the House of Representatives floor on Wednesday, a Democrat has vowed. Rep. Al Green of Texas in a House speech Tuesday said he would bring articles of impeachment against Trump and force a vote the following day, after three prominent Democrats asked to meet with him to discuss the matter. "I will tell them that impeachment is not about Democrats, that it's not about Republicans. I will tell them that it is about democracy," Green said of the Democrats he plans to meet with in his office. "It is about government of the people, by the people, for the people. I will tell them it is about the republic, it is about what (Benjamin) Franklin said, ‘We have a republic if we can keep it.' "I refuse to sit on the sidelines while the world is considering one of the greatest issues of our time." The impeachment vote will likely only be procedural. read more

WASHINGTON -- Bishop Christopher Coyne of Burlington, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Communications, is urging the retention of an open internet in the wake of a Federal Communications Commission proposal unveiled last week that would repeal protections intended to keep the internet open and fair. The concept of an open internet has long been called "net neutrality," in which internet service providers neither favor nor discriminate against internet users or websites. Bishop Coyne continues to voice strong support for net neutrality protections in a statement in response to last week's proposed FCC action. read more
