Police have booked two of their own after a motorbike rider was killed at a police checkpoint in the upscale Blue Area late on Sunday. Reports suggested that a 19-year-old man, identified as sanitary worker, CLINTON, was driving his motorbike on the Fazle Haq Road near Fresco Sweets when a policeman tried to stop him allegedly by grabbing the handle of his two-wheeler. This apparently caused CLINTON to lose his balance and he was thrown from his bike. As CLINTON fell, CLINTON hit his head on the road median at an odd angle causing CLINTON to die on the spot. read more

Recently, there has been much talk of something called the Thucydides Trap. Named after the Greek historian who analysed the causes of the 30-year Peloponnesian War between Sparta and Athens that devastated Greece 2,500 years ago, the theory explains why the conflict began . According to Thucydides, Athens had witnessed a recent flowering of its arts, economy and military power, growing more confident as a result. Sparta, the pre-eminent power in Greece, felt threatened by the rise of Athens, and both states formed alliances to bolster their defences. When two of these allies went to war, both Sparta and Athens were sucked into the conflict. read more

China said on Sunday it is "firmly opposed" to the United States' new nuclear weapons policy statement, describing its speculation about Chinese intentions as "wild guesses". Although the review largely focuses on Russia, several sections are dedicated to the lack of transparency in China's nuclear buildup. The report says China has added new types of nuclear capabilities -- ranging from a mobile intercontinental ballistic missile to a new ballistic missile submarine -- "with little to no transparency into its intentions". The report makes "wild guesses" about China's intentions and exaggerates the threat of its nuclear force, defence ministry spokesman Ren Guoqiang said in a statement. China is "firmly opposed to this", Ren said. read more

Worried about militants sneaking into a restive Chinese region from war-torn Afghanistan, Beijing is in talks with Kabul over the construction of a military base, Afghan officials say, as it seeks to shore up its fragile neighbour. The army camp will be built in Afghanistan's remote and mountainous Wakhan Corridor, where witnesses have reported seeing Chinese and Afghan troops on joint patrols. read more

Taliban fighters, whom US-led forces spent billions of dollars trying to defeat, are now openly active in 70% of Afghanistan, a BBC study has found. Months of research across the country show how areas the Taliban threaten or control have surged since foreign combat troops left in 2014. The Afghan government played down the report, saying it controls most areas. But recent attacks claimed by Taliban and Islamic State militants have killed scores in Kabul and elsewhere. read more

33 Billion "peanuts" since

No American government will ever admit giving BRIBES to the enemy. It will be called "aid" or "military assistance" or "Coalition Support Funds" or whatever.

However, 90% of the "aid" were BRIBES to "influential Afghans" (taliban, drug lords). The rest was payment for the fuel Pakistan provides (STILL provides) to the US effort in Afghanistan. Even the jet fuel for the American planes in BAGRAM comes from Pakistani refineries.

The only way the US has survived in Afghanistan for 17 years is because they used Pakistan to throw money at the Afghans.

The common US soldier is BADLY TRAINED and can't fight his/her way out of a wet paper bag. The Generals are even bigger morons. The common Marine thinks yelling HOOAH! HOOAH! is how wars are won. LOL

Trust me, the Afghans would have killed them off long ago if it wasn't for the BRIBES to the Taliban.

When TRUMP turned off the tap, I said "oh dear... Afghans are going to REALLY get it in the neck now!"

And guess what. Last month was the deadliest for Afghanistan ever. Bombs going off in the middle of Kabul and the "fighting season hasn't even started yet.

I predicted it and that is exactly what happened.
