Early Wednesday, Fox News published an explosive new story alleging President Obama sought detailed briefings about the Clinton email investigation. The report is based on texts between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page released by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security on Tuesday. In a text sent on September 2, 2016, Page tells Strozok that "potus wants to know everything we're doing." Fox News claims this text "raises questions about Obama's personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation." It's simply not a plausible interpretation of the September 2, 2016 text exchange that Obama was seeking a briefing on the Clinton email investigation. FBI Director James Comey closed the Clinton email investigation on July 5, 2016. It was not reopened until October. The same trove of text messages released Tuesday reveals that the FBI did not even become aware of additional emails on Anthony Weiner's laptop until September 28, 2016. read more

after telling deputies to shoot unarmed man

A Tennessee sheriff is facing a lawsuit after he was taped telling deputies to shoot a man during a car chase instead of risking damage to patrol cars by ramming the suspect. "They said 'we're ramming him,'" White County Sheriff Oddie Shoupe said on tape after the suspect Michael Dial, was killed, according to The Guardian. "I said, 'Don't ram him, shoot him.' F--- that shit. Ain't gonna tear up my cars." Dial's widow is suing Shoupe in federal court, alleging excessive use of force in the killing of her husband, the Guardian reported. After Dial was shot, Shoupe arrived on the scene, where his comments were picked up by a body camera worn by one of the deputies. "I love this shit," Shoupe said, according to The Guardian. "God, I tell you what, I thrive on it." read more

Today, Ranking Members Elijah E. Cummings and Adam Schiff of the House Oversight and Intelligence Committees sent a letter requesting that Chairmen Trey Gowdy and Devin Nunes transcribe an interview they have scheduled for later this week with a "confidential informant" in the Uranium One investigation -- particularly after the Justice Department provided a key briefing to the Committees directly contradicting Republican claims against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. "Over the past several months, Republicans have been talking directly to this individual while refusing to grant Democratic Members access, despite multiple requests," the Ranking Members wrote. "During this same time period, Republicans have been making wild and unsubstantiated allegations against Secretary Clinton on national television based on this individual's information. In contrast, the Department of Justice has now provided us with a detailed briefing that directly contradicts these Republican allegations." read more

Trump might not be able to see where this very slippery slope leads, but the political arsonists around him do. Prepare to reap the whirlwind.

If you're looking for someone who is betraying this nation, look for a person who would deliberately and systematically wreck the institutions that guarantee the separation of powers and the accountability of the executive and legislative branches. Look for a person who would suborn the rule of law to protect himself, his family, and his cronies from justice. If you're looking for someone in the act of betraying the glorious vision of our Founders and our Constitution, look no further than the vulgar, prancing, reality-show clown who holds the Presidency. Look no further than the man who swore to uphold the Constitution and obey the laws of this land, yet ignores them, and attacks those who would carry them out. read more

For a year now, lobbyists have swarmed the White House under President Donald Trump, attaining positions within various federal agencies just days after leaving government affairs jobs at lobbying firms, trade groups and corporations. Back in 2009, then-President Barack Obama issued an executive order on ethics that barred lobbyists from joining agencies they had lobbied in the previous two years. But Trump weakened that order shortly after becoming president, allowing lobbyists to join agencies they recently lobbied so long as they recused themselves from working on specific issues on which they had lobbied within the previous two years. The Trump administration has been sidestepping even that stipulation -- in some cases by ignoring it, and in others, by granting ethics waivers. read more

Jennifer Willoughby's statement on her abuse:

Why I stayed.
April 24, 2017

The first time he called me a "------- bitch" was on our honeymoon. (I found out years later he had kicked his first wife on theirs.) A month later he physically prevented me from leaving the house. Less than two months after that, I filed a protective order with the police because he punched in the glass on our front door while I was locked inside. We bought a house to make up for it. Just after our one year anniversary, he pulled me, naked and dripping, from the shower to yell at me.

Everyone loved him. People commented all the time how lucky I was. Strangers complimented him to me every time we went out. But in my home, the abuse was insidious. The threats were personal. The terror was real. And yet I stayed.

When I tried to get help, I was counseled to consider carefully how what I said might affect his career. And so I kept my mouth shut and stayed. I was told, yes, he was deeply flawed, but then again so was I. And so I worked on myself and stayed. If he was a monster all the time, perhaps it would have been easier to leave. But he could be kind and sensitive. And so I stayed. He cried and apologized. And so I stayed. He offered to get help and even went to a few counseling sessions and therapy groups. And so I stayed. He belittled my intelligence and destroyed my confidence. And so I stayed. I felt ashamed and trapped. And so I stayed. Friends and clergy didn't believe me. And so I stayed. I was pregnant. And so I stayed. I lost the pregnancy and became depressed. And so I stayed.

Abuse is indifferent to education level, socio-economic status, race, age, or gender. And no one can ever know the dynamics of another's relationship. My cycle continued for four more years. Afterward, I let go and welcomed the hard work of healing and forgiveness. My experience made me stronger and able to love more deeply. But my heart breaks for him. In the end, who is the real victim of his choices?

"Who was the douche who yelled "you lie"? During the SOTU years back?"

That's what I thought at first too, but, no, the "you lie" guy was Joe Wilson:

Rep. Wilson shouts, 'You lie' to Obama during speech

This is Joe Walsh:

Ex-GOP Lawmaker Joe Walsh: Nunes Is ‘Chair Of Trump's Reelection Campaign'

Nationally syndicated conservative radio host and former congressman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) said Wednesday evening that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) should "be ashamed of himself" for aggressively pursuing the release of a classified memo, which he called a "Republican written political document."
