Despite President Donald Trump's promise to "make America great again," 2017 really wasn't a great year for everybody. On Monday, Illinois will become the second state to ban the so-called "gay panic defense" in cases in which a murder defendant tries to justify their violence as a reaction to learning that their victim was gay. Net worth is a common metric used to measure an individual's financial health. It's simply the difference between all the assets someone owns (like cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.) and all the liabilities they owe (like student loans, car loans, credit card debt, etc.). Today I want to explore the net worth of Americans based on age bracket. I start by taking a look at the distribution of net worth by age, then by looking at what percentage of each age bracket has a positive and negative net worth, and end by comparing the net worth of the 1% with the median net worth for each age bracket. The victims of sexual harassment who have recently come forward are far from alone: Nearly half of women say they have experienced some form of it at work at least once in their careers. But there has been little research about those responsible. In a new survey, about a third of men said they had done something at work within the past year that would qualify as objectionable behavior or sexual harassment. The survey -- the result of a collaboration between The New York Times, leading sexual harassment researchers and the polling and media company Morning Consult -- was nationally representative of men who work full time. read more

A video of first daughters Tiffany and Ivanka Trump blowing kisses to their followers in bikinis is being met with mostly criticism in return online. In the short clip uploaded to Twitter Tuesday, the two women can be seen posing in their bikinis as "O Holy Night" is heard playing in the background while lounging by the pool at their father's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Melania Trump wished fans a Merry Christmas with a Santa-themed selfie on Monday which prompted much criticism on social media from users who found the first lady's facial expression "disgraceful," and too sexy. read more
