The Securities and Exchange Commission dropped an inquiry of Apollo Global Management six weeks after the private equity firm extended a loan to a real estate firm owned by the family of President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. There is no evidence the SEC inquiry ended as a condition of the loan, but the timing of deal raises further questions about Kushner's ability to navigate potential conflicts of interests as he still retains several significant holdings in his family's real estate empire. On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that Apollo loaned Kushner Companies $184 million following several meetings at the White House between Kushner and Apollo founder Joshua Harris, who was then advising the Trump administration on infrastructure policy. read more

President Trump's latest tough talking on trade has upset stock markets, angered US allies around the world and even drawn criticism from members of his own party. Whether it represents the start of a global trade war is likely to depend on the reaction from China, which Trump has repeatedly slammed for killing American jobs with its unfair trade practices. The tariffs on US steel and aluminum imports that Trump announced Thursday are "definitely the start of more aggressive trade measures by the Trump administration to protect US industry from what it sees as predatory practices of others," said Scott Kennedy, an expert on the Chinese economy at the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington. read more

Apollo, the private equity firm, and Citigroup made large loans last year to the family real estate business of Jared Kushner, President Trump's senior adviser. Early last year, a private equity billionaire started paying regular visits to the White House. Joshua Harris, a founder of Apollo Global Management, was advising Trump administration officials on infrastructure policy. During that period, he met on multiple occasions with Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, said three people familiar with the meetings. Among other things, the two men discussed a possible White House job for Mr. Harris. The job never materialized, but in November, Apollo lent $184 million to Mr. Kushner's family real estate firm, Kushner Companies. The loan was to refinance the mortgage on a Chicago skyscraper. read more

If Obama came out in late October 2016 and said publicly that Russia was interfering in our election, and that whatever the election result we are all Americans who need to stick together and not let Putin's Russia divide us ... do you truly think that would've helped the situation? That Red State America would have been okay with that? Obama couldn't get these Red State Americans to believe he wasn't born in Kenya.

Without McConnell confirming it, the pinheads at Faux Nooze would have shouted it down as partisan politics. McConnell knew Putin was hacking in and meddling and told Obama he would say it was only Obama campaigning for Hillary. For his bit of treason, his wife was rewarded with a cushy cabinet post. How much money did McChinless get for his treason?

"Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

Mitch McConnell was the top recipient of Blavatnik's donations, collecting $2.5 million for his GOP Senate Leadership Fund under the names of two of Blavatnik's holding companies, Access Industries and AI Altep Holdings, according to Federal Election Commission documents and OpenSecrets.org."

There you go. McChinless sold out America for $2.5 million.
