Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The same weekend President Donald Trump demanded that the "squad" of progressive congresswomen apologize to Israel, he decided to retweet a notorious far-right British commentator who blamed Jewish leadership for a lethal attack on a U.S. synagogue.

But if one of those progressive Democratic Congresswomen suggests that the people who are supporting Israel is spending money lobbying members of Congress, they're condemned as being Jew-haters and Communists. Do people honestly think that Israel is NOT using lobbyists to influence both Congress and the people in Trump's White House?

To anyone who's not hardcore fan of one of the football political teams, this just comes across as a pissing match.
"You're racist!" "No, you're racist!" "You're anti-semitic!" "Nuh uh, you're the anti-semite!" "Hypocrisy!" "Hypocrisy!"

I see nothing that is any different from the hate spewed by the very people who decry Trump for things he says. Of course, that takes objectivity which is sorely lacking from partisan haters.

We need "Barnum" Awards to go alongside the Darwin Award category.

This is nothing new. Fat Nixon routinely and falsely accuses democrats of the things he is doing. When called out, he just doubles down.

It's not his fault his morons believe everything he says despite reams and reams of evidence that says he is lying.

There is nothing wrong with hating horrible people like trump and his cult. Just like decent people are free to hate nazis and the KKK without being called mean.

But please lecture about objectivity. Something you clearly never met.

There is of course one glaring difference between Trump and everyone else - Trump is the President of the USA and they are not.

An objective observer would expect the words and deeds of the President, who is after all supposed to be the leader of the free world, to carry much more weight than all the non_Presidents out there - some 7bn plus.

If this doesn't make a difference to you, you may have been blinded by your own self-professed objectivity.

And now when I see a Sentinel post I will visualize the abusive father with a Nazi memorabilia fetish from 'American Beauty'.

#13, why? I have no interest in Nazi memorabilia. I've said before that claiming that all swastikas are Nazi symbols is like claiming German is the Nazi language and calling anyone who speaks it a Nazi supporter. Which of course is absurd.

Whether or not his words and deeds "carry more weight" has no relation to whether they're more or less hateful than anyone else's. Do you think his words carry more weight than members of the legislative branch? After three years, do you think most people (for or against him) actually *expect* Trump to act Presidential on twitter or at a campaign rally?

They merely expect the President to act Presidential.
Should they stop expecting Presidents to act Presidential, or just President Trump?

I see you have been selective in your quote. My first sentence which you omitted defines the context of the second. Trump is President, no-one else is.

As for whether his words carry more weight than members of the legislative branch, my answer would be yes.

I find your final sentence to be a sorry indictment of Trump's Presidency. You have accepted an ever lowering bar in terms of his behavior. I am not surprised that Trump fails to act Presidential, but that is no reason to stop expecting him to be Presidential. Why would you accept someone constantly failing to fulfill a basic requirement of their job?

#17, I'm aware of the context. Don't worry, it's still there on the same page.

I'm sure Trump would love to hear that his words carry more weight than members of the legislative branch. You're giving him (or the executive branch in general) too much credit and power here.

Why is my final sentence a sorry indictment? I think it's a fairly good indictment of his presidency. There's a difference between saying how someone ought to act and how you expect them to act. Everyone has low expectations of Trump, although some like to pretend otherwise.

"There's a difference between saying how someone ought to act and how you expect them to act."

Which is a very roundabout way of saying Trump doesn't live up to the expectations of a President.
