Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, July 21, 2019

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday arrived in Washington for his 3-day ‘official working visit' to the United States on a commercial Qatar Airways flight. He will stay at the ambassador's residence in the city's diplomatic enclave, not in a hotel. The decision to take a commercial flight has been touted as a bid to "save taxpayer money". The government has repeatedly promised that the entire trip will cost a total $60,000 to the exchequer -- significantly less than the much higher expenditures allegedly incurred by past chief executives.

I believe Trump called for this visit to see where Pakistan stands concerning the US vs Iran thingy. Which is shy he wanted his people to meet Pakistan's Army Chief and the ISI (spy) Chief.

We make jokes about Trump, but the man has one gift that most don't... he can tell face-to-face what you are all about. If he senses a spine, he backs down.. if not, he drives over you like a bulldozer. Basically he can read your mind.. it's the coward's survival instinct and it has served him very well.

Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are accompanying the prime minister.

Apparently, this is the first time that the country's top generals are accompanying a prime minister to a White House meeting with the US president.

Diplomatic sources told Dawn that Gen Bajwa would meet Defence Secretary Patrick M. Shanahan, the new chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Mark Milley and other senior officials during his visit to Pentagon.

US general calls for maintaining military ties with Pakistan

"If confirmed as chairman, my objective will be to preserve the defence relationship between the United States and Pakistan even as we press Pakistan to take action on US requests," Gen Milley told the Senate Armed Services Committee at a hearing in Washington.

Khan creates a headache for the Secret Service.

Officials in Islamabad are believed to have informed the Pakistan embassy that Prime Minister Imran Khan desires to stay at the ambassador's official residence instead of an expensive hotel during his three-day visit to Washington, starting on July 21.

The US secret service takes over the security of a visiting dignitary as soon as he or she lands in the US while the city administration has to ensure that the visit does not disrupt Washington's traffic. The US capital receives hundreds of presidents and prime ministers every year and the US federal government works jointly with the city administration to ensure that those visits do not disturb the city's normal life.

The ambassador's residence is in the heart of Washington's diplomatic enclave, just off one of the city's main arteries, the Mass (Massachusetts Avenue). There are at least a dozen embassies in and around that area, including those of India, Turkey and Japan while another dozen embassies such as those of Brazil, Britain and South Africa are not far away.

A visiting government head also holds a number of meetings with US officials, lawmakers and media and think-tank representatives during his stay in Washington. Since the residence is not large enough for all these meetings, the prime minister will have to meet his guests at the Pakistan embassy, commuting through Washington's busy traffic during rush hours. To do so, his entourage will have to drive by most of these embassies as well as the US vice president's official residence.

Some immediate family members of President Trump also live between the two locations.

Any closure of the street on which the ambassador's residence is situated will prevent other residents, including several ambassadors, from travelling to and from their workplaces during the three-day stay of Mr Khan.

LOL... I like this guy!

PM Imran to address Pakistani-Americans at Washington stadium on Sunday

The Capital One Arena can house more than 20,000 people with a lion's share of the tickets for the event already having been sold out.

And one more thing:

This is what one of the stupidest people on the Retort said:

Perhaps the United States should put sanctions on Pakistan until they give up their nuclear weapons. Drive their economy into the toilet. I suspect we might get cooperation from some of Pakistan's biggest neighbors. A s******e nation like Pakistan should not have nukes, they aren't responsible enough to have such weapons. DANNI

To which I replied:

And let me tell you one more thing (even though this thread is about Iran...).... at some point, Trump will BEG to talk to Pakistan and try and be pals again.

Because that's the way Trump... and all Republicans... operate.

This is why ALL Pak-Americans vote Republican. LOL

So I was correct. Again.

Pakistan hires Republican lobbying firm.

They know the lousy Dems won't be back anytime soon.

The Pakistani embassy in Washington has hired the services of a leading lobbying firm, Holland & Knight, to ensure effective representation of Islamabad's interests in the United States.

A contract was signed by embassy representatives and Tom Reynolds, a former Republican congressman from New York who represented the top lobbying firm.

I believe Trump called for this visit to see where Pakistan stands concerning the US vs Iran thingy.

Why would we give a rats ass what Pakistan thinks on Iran? Pakistan has nothing to do with it and isnt a major player on the world stage.

Why would we give a rats ass what Pakistan thinks on Iran?

Because the US military has cowards like you in it?

Pakistan has nothing to do with it

Pakistan is a DIRECT neighbor and you are an Afreekan Brainiac.

and isnt a major player on the world stage.

If fighting a war for 19 years and still losing to cave-men makes one "a major player on the world stage", thank Allah Pakistan is not "a major player on the world stage". LOL

What some Oreo loving people don't get it this.... Trump wanted to talk. HE sent a letter to Khan.. not the other way around.

So Trump obviously has something on his mind.

And of course he has only Iran on his mind right now.
