Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, July 21, 2019

This week Elon Musk unveiled his most sci-fi project thus far: a computer chip connected to exceptionally slender wires with electrodes on them, all of which is meant to be embedded in a person's brain by a surgical robot. The implant would connect wirelessly to a small behind-the-ear receiver that could communicate with a computer.

Hrat was excited about this because he misheard it as putting a chocolate chip in his brain.... which would be microsurgery.

Having all the knowledge and details of an encyclopedia instantly available. Having all the math equations of the most advanced computers immediately accessible. Brave New World, here we come.

Crude. Whatever he is actually working on is obviously more elegant. Maybe a localized MRI? Field technologies offer the advantage of non-invasive interfacing, but that also means exposing a currently limited biotechnology for abuse. Why bother? You only need to sterilize women. Solution.

If you thought you had privacy concerns on social media, this will blow that away.

Brave New World indeed.

Interesting, but I can see massive potential for abuse. All it takes is a few madmen surgeons, scientists or hacks, and the whole thing turns into Armageddon.

I read a book back in the 70s called "The Terminal Man", it was science fiction back then. Will we put chips in criminals to modify their behavior? Will reeducation centers be equipped with the means to convert people to the politically correct ideology? They need to ask some serious questions about the ability to program a mind, if a brain can operate a system, the system can just as easily program a brain.

In Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron, devices are used to reduce IQ to impose equality. Obviously that's not needed for some Leftists like Corky.

Good movie if you have poor reading skills like many on the DR.

Just like any tool it's a synthesis.

That is precisely how you sympathize and stop your violent behavior. "A harmonizer in every bus stop" was my dream decades ago. Detractors claim violation of free will, I say "BEND EVERY KNEE". I'll check out your book, bro.

A bib. Yes, that is precisely what you could expect now. I might already have that book available, but I will definitely grab the film. Vonnegut's prolifically delicious!

You can watch Harrison Bergeron on youtube. Abolish cognitive privilege! It's the next SJW frontier.

Over my dead body. Might I suggest Musk concentrate of electric cars or his space program, as if just one of those ventures isn't enough to occupy 20,000 people. He could start by making all the robotic equipment he bought for his Tesla assembly lines actually work. Ford, GM, Toyota and many others have mastered. Just because he made a fortune on paypal doesn't make him an expert on everything, though most Americans think if you're a celebrity or rich, you are worth listening to.

He should spend his time fixing his cars...

14 known fires involving Tesla vehicles.

Tesla sent out a software update this week to tens of thousands of its vehicles to help reduce the risk of battery fires.

Three of its sedans went up in flames without warning in recent months, one in Shanghai, another in Hong Kong, a third in San Francisco.

Just imagine this... a Tesla Brain Implant catching fire...

Yea, baby... gotta carry your own bag of Tesla branded marshmallows... think... "brain s'mores", a tasty new treat...

But can you get porn?

Seriously, not much of a market without that feature.

I'll get it, if I can receive it and get that funny bug eyed, tongue dripping, heavy breathing while I work look.

On breaks, no longer have to duck out to the restroom and look out of the hole in the wall to the other restroom.

At least it will let me grow hair in places that never had it before.

It could be labor saving device in more ways than one....

Elon Musk Hopes to Put a Computer Chip in Your Brain

Why just your brain?

My wife has been telling me for years my Wurlitzer has a mind of it's own...

Why yes I'm a musician, I play Bass, a Peavey Fury and a B3 Wurlitzer.

Yes, that's what I was talking about... errr... what did you think I was talking about?

- B3 Wurlitzer

That's a helluva nice organ. Instant Allman bros, Steve Winwood, Ric Wakeman.

Did they rename the Hammond B3? Great instrument. Used to listen to a lot of Jimmy Smith, and the Allman Bros Live At Fillmore album.
