Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, July 20, 2019

A day after saying his audience at a campaign rally in North Carolina went too far in chanting "Send her back!" about Somalia-born Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Trump on Friday defended the crowd members as "incredible patriots." Trump's attacks on the four liberal congresswomen – known on Capitol Hill as "the squad" – have been condemned by Democrats as racist, but many Republicans have shrugged them off. Last weekend he ignited the firestorm by tweeting the four should "go back" to where they came from if they do not like the United States.

Wasn't Trump saying he didn't approve of the chants?

the chant directed at Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, a freshman Democrat who is Muslim. At the rally Wednesday evening, he had been in the middle of denouncing her as an anti-American leftist who has spoken in "vicious, anti-Semitic screeds" when the chant was taken up by the crowd.

Pressed on why he did not stop it, Mr. Trump said, "I think I did -- I started speaking very quickly." In fact, as the crowd roared "send her back," Mr. Trump paused and looked around silently for more than 10 seconds as the scene unfolded in front of him, doing nothing to halt the chorus. "I didn't say that," he added. "They did."

Now they're patriots?"

What's difficult to understand about this? He basically told his people "don't do that." He clearly did not look happy at that rally, because that verbiage was not a part of his strategy. At the same time, he's not going to attack or question the patriotism of his own supporters.

The way you talk is threatening. "if you don't act the way I tell you, you're not going to like the consequences"

You are talking in a way that seems like there is one endgame - subjugation.

I asked you to clarify and you went even further - a metal strawman. To what? Pierce me a thousand times?

Where do you think you're taking this country? We've gone down this road before and it seems like you want to go there again.

Maybe Donald and Lara Trump's mistake was thinking the crowd wouldn't turn the "Leave!" response into a 3 syllable chant like "Lock her up!":

The send her back chant that Trump is claiming to disavow was planned at the rally and rehearsed with the crowd by warm-up act Lara Trump.

Republican strategist Stuart Stevens tweeted:

stuart stevens @stuartpstevens
Lara Trump did a warm up act to cue the crowd for this chant. It was planned.

"Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of the president addressed the crowd before Trump spoke, saying: "If you don't love our country -- the president said it..."

"Leave!" the crowd replied

Trump's daughter in law primed the crowd to use this chant during the rally in North Carolina.

What's difficult to understand about this?

Oh. Nothing. It was rhetorical.

I was pointing out Trump talking out of both sides of his head at the same time. Being a hypocrite. Lying.

But. Then you came along with such perfect spin for him. He's doesn't approve of his own words being echoed by his supporters, but he still finds them to be very patriotic for supporting him.

Got it.

Trump lies about the Congresswomen and then wonders why his supporters get so worked up about them:

Daniel Dale @ddale8

In consecutive comments this afternoon, Trump falsely accused Ocasio-Cortez of calling Americans "garbage" and falsely accused Omar of saying "evil Jews." My fact check on what they actually said:

'The way you talk is threatening. "if you don't act the way I tell you, you're not going to like the consequences"'

If you're acting in a way that's self-defeating and will ultimately result in Trump getting reelected, it stands to reason that you're not going to like that consequence. How is pointing that out in any way threatening?

"You are talking in a way that seems like there is one endgame - subjugation."

I don't know what you mean here.

"I asked you to clarify and you went even further - a metal strawman. To what? Pierce me a thousand times?"

The point is that the woman unknowingly pierced herself with the straw in the story that I was referencing. I was juxtaposing that with the fact you were making a straw man argument in #3. The flaw in your argument is that you think you're pleasing Trump if you and others don't pierce yourselves with straw man arguments, when in fact it's just the opposite.

"Where do you think you're taking this country? We've gone down this road before and it seems like you want to go there again."

I'm arguing against strategies that have already been proven failures to try to defeat Donald Trump. You went down this road before and it seems like you want to go there again, cuz somebody's fooled you into thinking 'it'll be different this time' if you focus on the popular vote in already blue districts and ignore the national electoral vote again.

In the ring, the calculating Muhammed Ali never made any moves nor took any steps or swings that weren't conducive to victory. Likewise, Trump is a numbers guy who knows he can ignore California, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts and several other states, and still win approximately 400 electoral votes, even with an approval rating not exceeding 50 percent. But most Democrats don't seem to understand this, and they're taking Trump's bait.

Ali played a long-term, unconventional mind game against Foreman, winning ONLY when it counted: in the title fight's eighth round. He was a one-of-a-kind, resourcefully manipulative tactical genius, who provoked his opponents into making costly, stupid, game-changing mistakes. He was cocky, but he could take punches that would've flattened most others, including those landed by younger, heavily favored, more experienced opponents.

They're not taking bait.... they're just not going to put anyone worth voting for on the platform come 2020. Stevie wonder can see that. Trump is loving it because the democrats are making it so easy for him. The rest is just attention getting by the left- keeps them in the news.

"What size magnifying glass did you use to split that hair?"

So now you're pretending words don't matter, except when they do. This is how he rope-a-dopes his opponents. They were fake outraged over him putting words into AOC's mouth, while at the same time doing the same thing to him. And then these factually incorrect statements get printed on CNN, giving credence to his claims that CNN and other media critical of him are fake news. For some reason people think this is going to defeat him, even though it's been tested and proven repeatedly that it isn't.

So interesting to see "Progressive" Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how....

If you can't see the connection between the above and "Send Her Back", I feel sorry for you.
