Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) got something of a hero's welcome the moment she arrived back to her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday evening. When Omar stepped out of the airport doors, she was greeted with signs and a cheering crowd welcoming her return.

"Repeating Fox/Brietbart talking point while pretending to be intelligent."

Omar took on the Zionist lobby so naturally they have their knives out for her and use their considerable network to propagate these types of stories-- Trump feces rollers (TFR™) like SheepleSchism merely attempt to pass on the infection that festers within them...

Trump boosted her profile SIGNIFICANTLY.

She will have no problem winning re-election in 2020 because of him.

I am sure it is all part of Trump's seven dimensional chess strategy.

How the Omar Marriage Smear Went From the Swamp to Trump

#8 | Posted by tonyroma at 2019-07-19 11:06 AM | Reply

I am really curious about this person. She has said things just as racist and xenophobic as Trump (using the definition of racism that Liberals use for Trump), yet Liberals seem to ignore it. Putting all partisan bickering and hate aside, I'm just curious as to why Dems aren't demonizing her for acting just like Trump. Dems are trying to rise above what they feel Trump represents, yet you have two people now (AOC and Iman) who have made statements on record that are just as bad as Trump. Yet, even when one of them are referenced, Liberals somehow steer the conversation back to Trump. So why are their comments being ignored? Any intellectual conversation to be had about that (not just hate spewing like usual)?

It's working. I'm not sure if it is working "perfectly" or not. We won't know that until Nov 2020.

But for now, Pres Trump's plan to use racism (OK, nativism) to energize his base and paint four Democratic members of the House as the face of the Democrats is working.

So well, in fact, that even some of the spineless Republicans are expressing concerns about the long-term ramifications of the tactic.

100 bucks and 23 and me could clear this up.

There is a possibility husband number two (bigamy much?) is not a blood relative. He is a man that she said was her brother when she tried to help him get a visa. During the process the rules changed on chain migration and she "married" this person. So we have bigamy and immigration fraud, jury is out on the ------.

Trump didn't tell them to go home. He said they "originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe," and that they should "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came." That you need to distort his language is the quite telling.

Also, proof that any of these people were paid? The Twin Cities are extremely progressive and it wouldn't surprise me at all that these people showed up on their own.

#9 | POSTED BY HUMTAKE

Like what?

I know about their supposed anti-Semitic remarks, but while I think they need to be careful in the future about getting to close to racist tropes, I don't think the remarks themselves were racist. The trope is that Jews secretly control the worlds governments and/or the control the world's banks (and have lots of money).

Now, the fact is that Jews DO lobby Congress in favor of Israel and the pro-Israel groups have lots of political power in the US. The most blatant example is Sheldon Adelson who is well known to donate heavily to Republican causes in return for support for pro-Israel causes...

"Sheldon Adelson, 85, a confidant of US President Donald Trump who conditioned massive contributions to his campaign on his relocating the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, [is undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma]."

www.jpost.com

So, are you saying that we are not allowed to discuss the effects that large of money (by at least one person, and I am sure he is not the only pro-Israel person donating money in the US) tied to pro-Israel causes have on our political system and decision making process? Because it is supposedly "racist" to do so? You sound a lot like one of those supposed Social Justice Warriors that Republicans always claim exist.

But, I do think they need to be more careful about how their words will be interpreted, and who statements like that will be seen as supporting. You really don't want the White Supremacists and American Nazis to believe your statements support their racist positions.

I perceived the point behind the 'Benjamins' comment was that many US politicians in both parties were afraid to criticize Israeli policies nor to hold them responsible for specific inhumane treatment directed towards their Palestinian citizens because of the money they receive from pro-Israel individuals and groups. In no way did I interpret the comment as anti-Semitic/Jewish as a matter of group disparagement.

From what I've seen the critical comments that have rightwing snowflakes up in arms were not directed toward named individuals or a group, they were directed toward the Israeli government's official policies and pronouncements which effectively harm and dehumanize Palestinian-Israelis and treats them like prisoners and pawns.

How did that plan work in 2018?

Republicans have two problems with winning the elections in 2020 up and down the ballot:
1. Trump is pushing the undecided and independents to vote Democrat.
2. Trump is lowering enthusiasm for a large number of Republicans while increase Democrat enthusiasm to make it to the polls.

Trumps small, fanatic base is there. But the undecided/independents and getting your own people to vote are the two things that win elections.

Trump is killing the Republican Party and their chances of anything in 2020.

But, the "group disparagement" is that Jewish people are all bankers, so have lots of money (to give to groups they support) and that they control governments around the world from the background. Which is actually what you are accusing them of, though to a much much lower degree than the conspiracy theorists claim it.

Because, honestly, that is what they are doing. But it is similar enough to the stereotype that they need to be aware of the stereotype and its history so they don't fall into the trap of aligning themselves with support of the stereotype.

But, OTOH, these are freshman Congresswomen. The only reason why they have such widespread coverage is because white republican males are terrified of them. They are going to make some mistakes and flubs (as just about all people elected to congress the first time do). The only reason it is such a big deal is because of the widespread coverage (white republican male terror).

#35 | Posted by gtbritishskull at 2019-07-19 04:12 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

And just to clarify, when I say "that is what they are doing" I mean that they are trying to influence politics by financially supporting candidates (same as just about any special interest group).

I don't think the white republican males are terrified...I think they're ecstatic. They may pretend to be terrified in order to draw more attention to them, but the crazier the Dem candidates get, the better it is for the repubs. So you would want the focus to be on the crazies, and not the more sane members of the party.

Which is actually what you are accusing them of, though to a much much lower degree than the conspiracy theorists claim it.

Not at all. Though I understand where you're coming from, sometimes things mean what they were invented/intended to mean. The term "It's all about the Benjamins" was not coined to infer that Jews dominate finance. It's urban slang for "It's all about the MONEY!" And my belief is what I stated above; it was meant to infer that money (campaign donations, not Jewish domination of finance) is a key driver of pro-Israeli fever within US politics even when their actions go against our own stated beliefs and principles. I say this because there are many non-Jewish groups who make Israeli policy a touchstone for their cause.

Unless you want to provide supporting evidence for those who claim it's related to the trope of Jewish domination of finance, then take it for what it means. Now, it's possible that it could have been uttered in that vein, but I've never seen it proven, and those who impart their own definitions of other's statements which cannot be tied to the commentator's related history - confirming their stance - should keep that in mind before hurling their accusations.
