Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, July 18, 2019

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Wednesday blocked an attempt by Democrats to pass an extension of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) tried to win the Senate's consent to approve the House-passed bill, which would reauthorize funding until fiscal 2090. The bill cleared the House in a 402-12 vote last week. But Paul objected, pointing to the country's growing debt and arguing that any new spending should be offset by cuts to other spending. "It has long been my feeling that we need to address our massive debt in the country," he said. "And therefore any new spending ... should be offset by cutting spending that's less valuable. We need to at the very least have this debate."

If Rand Paul were to block every new spending bill, then his actions here might be excusable.

"UN american" america hating democratic congresswoman OMAR sponsored this bill to help 9/11 heroes.

Republicans ron paul and mike lee block it because we can't afford it, even though we just gave TRILLIONS to the rich.

Hell of a party you've got there repubs. Now that you're just trump's cult, you dont even have to pretend to be patriotic anymore.

Billionaires should pool some loose millions together and help 9/11 responders. The country helped the billionaires, the billionaires can help the country.

Yet another meeting of the DRama Club, this was over a consent vote being pushed by Klobuchar without debate, McConnell is fast tracking the bill to a formal vote next week:

"Despite the back-and-forth on the floor, the Senate is expected to pass the bill before leaving for their summer recess by Aug. 2.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fast-tracked the House bill to the Senate calendar this week, paving the way for him to tee it up for a vote.

McConnell said after a meeting with 9/11 first responders that it was his plan to bring the bill up before the recess.

"We want to try to deal with [the legislation] before the August recess," he said."

Carry on with your circle flapping.

You call that a reply? All he said was "it's all lies!" then couldnt deny blocking this bill or voting for the giant tax cut for the rich.

That's the entire principle behind warren and sanders campaigns. They welcome your donations.

Republicans will tell you to go back to where you came from with that attitude.

That diseased ferret living on top of Rand Paul's head finally finally chewed through his skull and began eating his brain. Otherwise, how else can we explain his block of the bill!?!

Apparently McConnell was shamed into giving the bill a vote. Pretty bad when it takes Jon Stewart to shame him into doing what is right. Shame seems to be something that produces progress, perhaps we need more of it.

#12 | Posted by SpeakSoftly, Actually he did what he has done many times, basically ask for a rider to get the issue paid for within the existing budget. So do point out where he supposed to have lied?

Rand Paul is a scuzzy subhuman. This is an abomination toward the First responders.

aaahhh.... you do know that FDNY and NYPD health insurance programs covers ALL the medical costs involved with 9/11?

This 9/11 victim fund is being used to buy houses, boats and airplanes...

Feinberg personally presided over more than 900 of the 1,600 hearings. At the end of the process $7 billion was awarded to 97% of the families; the average payout was $1.8 million.

The younger hose pullers are really getting pissed because some old timers were near the buildings when they fell and are being paid by this fund as well as getting full disability and medical pay and most "victims" have a second job with the city so they can double dip their pensions...

Which younger fire fighters can't do... in other word's... the old timers are really working the snot out of the 9-11 pity party...

NEW YORK -- One widow has more than $2 million but walks or rides the bus everywhere, terrified of drawing attention. Another millionaire widow stopped going to 9/11 support groups because she feared that families of police officers and firefighters might betray her.

A widower has enough money to start a business building houses, but cannot buy himself a home.

All three lost a husband or a wife when the World Trade Center collapsed. Like thousands of others, they were beneficiaries of the federal Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund, which awarded millions of dollars to families whose loved ones died in the attacks.

But a secret sets these three apart. Like their spouses who died, each is in the country illegally. Even though the government compensated them richly for their losses, making them wealthier than they ever dreamed, the money did not change their immigration status.

They fear they could be deported any day.

God bless our Democrat party...

The GOP's goal is to KILL all social programs. Education. Student aid. Food stamps. Medicare. Social Security.

You can't kill those exceedingly popular programs without a crisis of funding.

Cutting taxes for the 1% and creating that crisis is a win win in --------- like Paul's books.

We can't and objective people know it.

It's just partisan spit wad throwing.

I'm not imply it... I'm stating it... enuf is enuf.

We simply MUST SAVE OUR MONEY... to pay reparations to the slave dependents.

... and all the Hawaiians when the US Marines invaded and made made Hawaii safe for the white man...

... and all the Japanese who lost their businesses and homes being detained in those American concentration camps...

.... and all the illegal Mexicans being detained at all the ICE Holiday Inn's......

.... and all the American Tax payers being sucked dry...

This list... like all the money in the Treasury.... is endless....

Vote Democrat and be proud to say... "I got mine"...

Wrong. Jon Stewart shamed Jerry Nadler when his Committee was practically empty when Stewart appeared, once that happened Nadler quickly moved the bill out of Committee and Pelosi put it up for a vote.

McConnell met with the First Responders that same day with Jon Stewart and promised to fast track the legislation once it passed the House, which he did.

#29 | Posted by Rightocenter at 2019-07-19 05:18 PM | Reply

First Responders only get 20% of this money... 80% goes to the families who had a member die in the buildings...

9/11 Victim Compensation bill... the key word is "victim". First Responders are NOT considered victims since their medical insurance already has them medically covered.

Incidentally, cancer in all it's forms is considered just a hazard and part of the job of ALL firefighters. This is the first thing they tell you on your first day at the Academy.

I could get behind this bill if 100% of the money went to them...

Google "9-11 Widows" to see stories of how this money is being spent...

...and now they get more...
