The House voted on Wednesday to sideline an effort to immediately impeach Donald Trump, the first test of efforts in the Democrat-led House to seek the president's removal from office.

The last paragraph is what Democratic Leadership is the most afraid of, since like the Green New Deal fiasco, the last thing that the Dems want is an up and down vote on impeachment articles over these tweets.

Either way, this is a nightmare for Pelosi and the rest of the Leadership Team.

Or anything else that their candidates are proposing. Maybe they'd will be willing to vote for a declaration of National Oatmeal Day.

They don't have any good options.

The best they can hope for is for Trump to take the spotlight off this with some more stupid and offensive tweets.

CSU lists both "American" and "America" as non-inclusive words "to avoid," ......."War," "cake walk," "eenie meenie miney moe," "Eskimo," "freshman," "hip hip hooray!", "hold down the fort," "starving," and "policeman" were among other words and phrases deemed non-inclusive by CSU.

At least two of those were names of gay bars in SF in the late 80s when I was in law school, so they are probably "grandfathered in", so to speak, along with other bars like White Swallow, The Kokpit and The Stud.

What I don't understand is that Nixon was never impeached. He was investigated and when that investigation got to the point where his criminality was plain as day, and the Republican realized that a successful impeachment was imminent, he resigned.

Now I suspect that under similar circumstances Trump will not resign, but that's not the point. The Republicans had come to the conclusion that his criminality was as plain as day.

That's what needs to take place, an investigation that makes it plain as day to everyone just what a criminal and traitor he really is.

Just think about that going into the next election, one party trying to hold a criminal traitor to account, and the other party defending him.

Not a bad position to be in if you hold America dear.

My guess is the only thing that will save Trumplethinskin is the same thing that saved Reagan in the end. Besides...if not served right... impeachment is just a slap on the hand. I want the Trumplethinskin empire crushed.

Yeah... if only he would get a ------- from an intern, THEN it would be impeachable.

But coordination with a hostile foreign power, obstruction of justice, and corruption... meh.

He has committed innumerable "impeachable offenses". High crimes and misdemeanors has a VERY expansive definition (look it up and try to rectify your ignorance). It is all political now. And Democrats are smart enough that they aren't going to impeach him unless they know that there are enough Republicans who care more about country than party to convict him.

#50 | Posted by gtbritishskull at 2019-07-18 03:32 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 3

Since we all KNOW that msgt will not take the opportunity to learn anything, I will post...

"High" in the legal and common parlance of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries of "high crimes" signifies activity by or against those who have special duties acquired by taking an oath of office that are not shared with common persons. A high crime is one that can only be done by someone in a unique position of authority, which is political in character, who does things to circumvent justice. The phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors" when used together was a common phrase at the time the U.S. Constitution was written and did not require any stringent or difficult criteria for determining guilt; it meant the opposite.

Dems are smart enough to know he won't be removed from office, but they're not smart enough to see that impeachment is still the right thing to do.

Pelosi is doing irreparable damage to the party.

It used to be that trump was clearly a crook but repubs were protecting him.
Now trump is clearly a crook, but repubs AND DEMS are protecting him.

If we don't impeach, we lose the moral high ground. We're just political-calculating traitors like republicans.

The history books would have read - republicans did all they could to protect trump and democrats did all they could to resist him.
Now they'll read - republicans did all they could to protect trump and democrats gave up and let a crook traitor racist moron president go unpunished.

Impeach trump or impeach pelosi.

"Identifies as" is a worthless measure. There are conservatives who stopped calling themselves republicans because duyba was so bad.

There are trump cultists on this site who "identify as" "progressives".

There are liberals who are so sick of the democrats being sellouts that they dont call themselves democrats any more.

Drawing conclusions from such subjective terms is foolish.

We have one concrete data point - dems ran a status quo establishment dem against a horrible con man populist in 2016 and the populist STILL won.
