Taiwan is part of the US still. China ceded it to Japan. Then Japan surrendered it in a treaty of which China was not party but the US.all the state dept ever says is that the Taiwan issue is unresolved. Give all 25 million taiwanese their long overdue US passports/citizenship.

Sure, lets let China try to enforce it. See what happens.

Wrong and it never was part of the US. Treaty of Taipei clearly and unambiguously put Taiwan in the hand of China.

The US has allied itself with Russia, North Korea, and Philippines. We are powerless. China can do what they like.

IMO, it would be a complete betrayal of our values as Americans if we were to ever backing Taiwan politically, militarily or economically in the face of Chinese hostility. Taiwan aspires to be a democratic republic. China is a communist dictatorship. Let countries like North Korea, Pakistan and the Philippines suck up to China all they want. They are all already quasi fascist military dictatorships.

If you mean "quit backing," then I completely agree.
