Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Labor Secretary Alex Acosta resigned on Friday after coming under renewed criticism for a plea deal with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while he was U.S. Attorney in Florida. That agreement, which was widely criticized as lenient, came under fire this week with new charges brought against Epstein by prosecutors in New York. Trump, joined by Acosta outside the White House, announced that the Labor Secretary would be leaving

Another failure on the part of Trump and the Senate as Acosta joins the long list of disgraced scum and law breakers to be chased out of their appointed positions. Shameful.

When Trump praised him this week I figured that was the kiss of death.

I hope Acosta can be prosecuted for the corrupt deal he struck with Epstein and the conspiracy he engaged in to hide the details from Epstein's victims. There's no way that was legit.

When the former Florida prosecutor said Acosta was lying about the deal he made with Epstein, in secret, it was pretty obvious he would not survive as Sec. of Labor, a position he should never have held in the first place. One more piece of filth exiting the filthiest administration in history.

Acosta Handed Epstein Possible Defense Argument in New Criminal Case, Legal Expert Says
lawandcrime.com

...It seems like Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta potentially handed convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein an argument in new federal sex trafficking case against him in the Southern District of New York.

Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor and current CNN legal analyst, immediately reacted to Acosta's remarks by saying the Labor Secretary basically teed up a future argument for Epstein's defense team.

Why is Acosta making public comments discussing the specifics of victim's communications with law enforcement while charges against Epstein are pending?
He can potentially use Acosta's statements against prosecutors in that case. t.co

What might this case be about?

Read for yourself here:
www.scribd.com

The complaint alleged a "savage sexual attack" in 1994, when the victim was 13 years old, in which Trump tied her to a bed at Epstein's house, raped her, and struck her in the face. The account was corroborated by a witness who claimed to have seen the child perform sexual acts on both Trump and Epstein. The case was voluntarily dismissed so there may have been a settlement.

Yeah that explains why Barr had to un-recuse himself cuz he might be needed to defend Epstein. Yeah right. And let the chips fall where they may, anyone and everyone involved should face prison time.

#32 | Posted by danni at 2019-07-12 01:53 PM | Reply

Acosta should be just the tip of the iceberg in this POS Epstein case. Every single prosecutor and judge should be named and outed in every state and every case this scum walked away from. Every single one of them needs to fired. There's absolutely no excuse for a plea deal, especially such a prolific predator as Epstein. This is like cutting a deal for Ted Bundy to walk free.

#33 | Posted by SheepleSchism at 2019-07-12 01:54 PM | Reply

I read a lengthy piece on other aspects of the sweetheart deal Acosta gave Epstein.

Among them:

- He was allowed to change his primary residence from NYC to the U.S. Virgin Islands so he wouldn't have to report to authorities in NYC as a registered sex offender.

- He changed the age of a (picked out of many for the purpose of registering) victim to 17 when he met with authorities in New Mexico. As a result, he avoided having to register as a sex offender in New Mexico.

Jeffrey Epstein Registered as a Sex Offender in 2 States. In New Mexico, He Didn't Have To

HIGHLIGHTS:
That state's relatively cursory investigation took into account only a police report which indicated, the authorities said, that the underage victim in the case to which Mr. Epstein pleaded guilty in 2010 was 17 -- the age of consent in New Mexico -- though the girl whose report launched the investigation against him was just 14.

Spencer Kuvin, a lawyer who represented three of the girls, including the 14-year-old who he said was the first to come forward, said the hearing was highly unusual because it did not establish a factual basis for the guilty plea, and Mr. Epstein's lawyers may have had leeway to select which victim -- of which age -- about whom their client made admissions.

But the age of the victim associated with Mr. Epstein's guilty plea remains murky. To begin with, dozens of girls as young as 13 told the police they had been sexually abused by him. Mr. Lovato said a Florida police report listed the age of the victim as 17. But the state attorney's office there has said that the girl was 16, and The Miami Herald reported that the obfuscation of her age was deliberate.

There is no way Epstein is getting away from this one. More than 30 underage victims.

I read what Acosta wrote. He was right to resign.

We need to build a new jail to put Epstein under. But I'm sure we can crowdsource it. No reason to spend money.

What was this position payback for?

#42 | Posted by SpeakSoftly at 2019-07-12 02:53 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

Trump was never all that happy with Acosta anyway since he was seen as not strong enough on getting rid of regulations that corporations and big businesses were looking for, particularly those that stuck-it to workers and labor unions. Perhaps his Hispanic ancestry was holding him back when it came to hurting low income workers so this way Trump gets a twofer, he can now appoint a more draconian Labor Secretary and he removes the only Hispanic in his administration so his base will be happy (now if he can only get rid of Ben Carson he will at least have made the Cabinet 'white again').

In case nobody noticed, Trump gave Acosta a 10-star (with blinking neon lights) gift today.

The sendoff was so effusive it sounded exactly like a glowing recommendation so poor, innocent Mr. Acosta won't have any trouble finding another job.

I keep wondering how much Acosta knows about that import (modeling agency) business Trump owned when he and Epstein first learned that they had a lot in common. I seem to recall that Epstein wanted to use Trump's idea so he could lure young girls (with offers of modeling jobs) to supply his sex trafficking business.

If Acosta knows about Epstein, he also knows about (co-conspirator?) Trump.

And the payback continues.
