Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, July 11, 2019

Some of the right-wing media universe's biggest stars are set to descend on the White House Thursday for what has been billed as a "social media summit" and will likely become a forum for airing claims of anti-conservative social media bias.

Imagine two circles, one (circle-1) representing the universe of hate-filled, violence-inducing comments, and the other (circle-2) representing the universe of conservative comments. There is an overlap, as some comments reside in both circles.

Social media are trying (rightfully so) to remove the comments within circle-1 from their platforms.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a significant overlap between circle-1 and circle-2, so much of an overlap that many (some analyses say, most) of the comments removed in circle-1 also live in circle-2.

Also unfortunately, Pres Trump relies upon many of the commenters in circle-1 as his core supporters, and needs to keep them engaged and heard.

Hence, today's meeting.

The ultimate Trump feces roll. Many looking to wallow in the diabolical sulfured stench of their cult leader, thumbing their brown stained noses at the Democrats -- as if there wasn't a better way to do so.

A colon born conglomerate; a lickspittle landfill -- with so much methane wafting around they better be careful lighting their victory cigars -- the whole damn place might explode.

"Some of the right-wing media universe", why not ask who those people are? Tim Pool is there, are you going to call him a Nazi? Black Pigeon, the Amazing Atheist and a host of people of various stripes and ideologies will attend. Face it, the left can not debate, they have to resort to censorship.

I agree with many conservative platforms -- however when so-called conservatives jump headfirst into the fetid cesspool that is Trump's excremental wake they automatically disqualify themselves from being taken seriously and should be accorded halfwit status.

Regardless.

~11,000 lies and still so many more to go by Trumpy and the Deplorables.

So many lies. And you are not even embarrassed.

Sad.

@#4 ... Face it, the left can not debate, they have to resort to censorship....

I did a quick check of the entities you mentioned in your post, and I see all of them have social media accounts up and running.

So your citation of them appears to disprove what you say about censorship by the left.

Is one truly the victim of oppression or censorship when he is personally invited to the house of the most powerful person in the world?

Wow, there is just no end to Liberal hypocrisy. Is what Trump doing ridiculous? Yep, but no more ridiculous than the people Obama invited to many of his events. Just do a little research first before posting so you can know if what you are typing is hypocritical or not.

From what little has come out it sounds like the summit is going to be at least partially focused on the near-monopoly the tech giants have.

Some ideas should be censored and eliminated from discourse. White supremacy is not just another opinion it is a cancer that needs to be removed from the body politic. If you want to be a white supremacist at home go for it. You want to do it in public you deserve what you get

You're getting it wrong.

Free speech means allowing speech that you may find offensive.

Because someone supports a white supremacist's right to spew his hatred doesn't mean someone supports the message.

Ask the ACLU about this.

That wasn't my point. Of course white supremacists have the right to air their opinions under the 1st Amendment.

Nullifidian spouts enough hate about brown people to conclude he supports what white supremacist say.

#27 | Posted by JOE at 2019-07-11 02:22 PM | Reply

Publicly, it is being billed by Trump as an opportunity for himself and the collected malcontents to grouse about how social media companies are being very, very mean to them, as numerous of Trump's far-right worsties find themselves banned from platforms such as Facebook and Twitter for racism, calls to violence, or other behavior so egregious that not even multibillion-dollar tech companies are able to look the other way.

The guest list, however, does not quite match the stated rationale. None of the high-profile figures who have actually been barred from those platforms (Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, et al.) will be in attendance, which is causing predictable fury in those quarters.

It is not a White House meeting. It is a Trump campaign meeting being hosted in the White House. And the focus is not on combatting "Fake News," but on promoting it.

Trump, like Hedley Lamarr called out rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull -----, train robbers, bank robbers, ----------, ----------- and Methodists...

I have found that people can have a great conversation, if they imagine that they are all hanging out together, physically. The medium of online discussion is a hindrance to actually finding decent middle grounds.

The usual ConservaDunce dodge. One Obama misstatement (there's nothing showing Obama knew it wasn't true when he said it).

So 10,999 to go Humtake. See if you can keep up the fake equivalency past 10.

Let's keep going, what did Obama do when he found out he was wrong?

He apologized and admitted it!

Contrast that with Barnum that keeps repeating most of his lies over and over again no matter how many times he's corrected.

Even if Obama lied like Barnum, covered it up like Barnum and lied to the extent of Barnum it would still not excuse the lies Trump has told.

I know this is hard to understand, but for most of us, what someone else does doesn't excuse us from doing it.

Trump-Humpkins cut Trump's every misdeed, lie, legal and ethical lapse an automatic pass every, f##n, time because somewhere , sometime, some Democrat did something remotely similar.

I think the damn Yankee picked a winning issue. There is something fundamentally unfair about a mega corporation who provide a social media platform filtering content and attempting to demonetizing those who they disagree with. I would rather Alex Jones, who probity has serious mental problems, or Glen Beck who lives in a Mormon paradise, on than not. Hell, allow the Klan and the Nazis and the New Black Panthers and Calypso Lewis on, let them express what they believe. You can't stop an ideal by burying it. Best to put it under the light of public scrutiny and rebuttal than let it become "forbidden". Nothing makes something bad more appealing than to bake it taboo.

Not even in the same class of obama's friend/mentor Bill Ayers:

"In 1969, Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground, a self-described Communist revolutionary group with the intent to overthrow imperialism,[3] that conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings (including police stations, the US Capitol Building, and the Pentagon) during the 1960s and 1970s in response to US involvement in the Vietnam War." en.wikipedia.org

Yesterday's event was embarrassing. Sebastian Gorka's confrontation was something out of a drunk family reunion YouTube video.

The right's attempts to normalize right wing pundits as somehow more legitimate than sourced, verified news reporting goes on. And now we have a president who fully embraces loony tunes conspiracy theorists.

Twitter and other SM companies getting rid of bots is not squashing free speech.

BTW, Obama, who has millions more subscribers to his Twitter feed than Trump does, had four times as many bots removed from his "followers"

You don't have private two-party conversations on YouTube.
But you're on to something, the protections we have in the digital age are practically nonexistent.
Europeans have stronger protections.
That means protections are bad to you, right? ;)

Not directly, but there is a handoff to several agencies; a side tap, if you will.

It's been that way since I entered in the late 80's.
