Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Michael Doliner: There has never been an Iranian bomb program, but Obama needed to negotiate the end of one anyway so that he wouldn't look weak on defense. All of Europe, Russia, and China sent diplomats to chime in. The orange sloth declares it "the worst deal in history" and tears it up. Through the entire process Ahmadinejad insisted negotiating with the USA was a waste of time, since they are incapable of upholding any agreement. Moderate Rouhani, and anyone who voted for him, looks like a complete fool for negotiating the JCPOA. Now Trump is in Obama's mess, slip-sliding into a war with Iran that everyone with half a brain knows will destroy the world economy. Except, Obama's path out is closed. Britain, France, Germany ... are pooped out. The stupidity and barbarism of the American adventures they supported have left them with governments of sock puppets and lap dogs.

The real problem is that the Former United States is played out, but the deep state (spies mostly) don't want to admit it. The debacles in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and elsewhere have demonstrated complete incompetence. American influence in the Middle East is near zero. Even the Saudis are thinking of abandoning dollar hegemony. The fates of Gaddafi, after he gave up his weapons, Saddam, after he asked April Glaspie for permission to invade Kuwait, and Noriega, after running the CIA drug trade, expose the Former United States as a double-crosser par excellence. Even if you wanted to be their lacky it's impossible to determine what they want.

Ordinary soldiers, if they are not monsters (and many are), know their cause was unjust. In the dark, they can't hide from themselves that they are murderers and torturers. They commit suicide in record numbers because once home, without the support of their accomplices in crime, they have to face the music or go insane.

Excellent article.

"Now Trump is in Obama's mess, slip-sliding into a war with Iran that everyone with half a brain knows will destroy the world economy"

Trump's mental illness leads him to believe that the world is Trump and that Trump is invincible and perpetually glorious.

Let's re-phrase: Trump doesn't understand even ordinary cause and effect. His reality is entirely internal and that reality is distorted beyond ordinary human comprehension.

So we'll git a war with Iran if his pride is threatened, or if one helps the family fortune, or most likely because he lives his life five seconds at a time just like your dog does.

The real question is who is goading Iran into doing stupid crap like trying to board a British tanker. The IRGCN isn't making these decisions on their own - someone is whispering in their ear and telling them that if they take on the Satanic West, they'll have their back. I'm all in that this is Putin's handiwork. It's not surprising that the tanker the Egyptians impounded was from a Russian company. Iran HAS to know that actions like that in an international strait are considered acts of piracy, if not an outright hostile military act. Kudos to the Brits for not just having their frigate blow the little Iranian boats to smithereenies.

1 party exiting a non-binding agreement is not what any honest person would call 'tear(ing) it up'.

Fortunately, the Senate made it very clear that agreements with the president are not the same as agreements with the country; They even wrote an open letter reminding Iran of that reality - somehow a letter reminding of the separation of powers that exists in the US the media insinuated was treasonous. Agreements with the country of the USA, binding agreements, are carried out with treaties so that the legislative branch can exercise their prerogative as the Constitution decrees.

Actually, the IRGC has been known to act on it's own without the President knowing anything about it.

I can cite at least 2 occasions where Iran had to suffer major embarrassment and the President was the last to know.

They have a very idiotic chain-of-command. Countries that had bloody revolutions often do.

Must,

Iran has sought revenge after numerous US inspired coups, a deliberate passenger plane downing by US Navy, sanctions, and unwarranted property confiscation. In this recent case the UK impounded their ship first. We live in a world with one set of rules for ourselves and another for our enemies. There is no moral or legal basis for any acts of aggression by the USA. At some point this behavior will come back to haunt us. In the meantime the pillaging and plundering continues.

#7 Waah. The Brits impounded their ship because it was carrying crude in violation of sanctions. If you want to play whatabout, I'll claim we installed the Shah because of the warmongering of Xerxes.

#8, I suppose its fun to play the diabolical criminal when no one can hold you accountable. Doesn't change the fact that it is wrong.
