Using rats, the study found evidence that psychological reactions to weed depend on which part of an individual's brain is most sensitive to THC.

This is interesting. I have seen so many divergent reactions to mj and I have always wondered why/

I wonder if the sensitive area changes over time.

I know people who used to be in the happy camp, but now get very paranoid.

#3 | Posted by LampLighter at 2019-07-10 11:26 AM | Reply

For me, Indica is just a chill, sleepy, laid back buzz. Whereas Sativa ups my heart rate, is mildly hallucinogenic, brings paranoia, and sort of freaks me out. I don't do the Sativa anymore.

If I go months without partaking the first time or two I can get a little paranoid. Otherwise it's all joy. Reminds me, time to take a walk by the Pulitzer fountain.

Interesting, I would have thought it mattered more about what mindset the person went into the experience with, and that would be the aspect which characterized their intoxication.

I call it Joyweed for a reason.

#6 I wouldn't be surprised if "what mindset the person went into the experience with" and "which part of an individual's brain is most sensitive to THC" are different ways of saying the same thing.

i, reluctantly and with several large discounts and more coupons in hand, got my card from the OMMU (office of medical narinuana use).
i have never been anywhere to see or partake in the new legal side of cannabis.
--this is amazing. i now have 9 kinds of buds in front of me. put my "dealer" out of business... this is better, many more more choices, and CHEAPER.

as far as paranoia... i think you either have that or you don't and if you do it gets worse over time. at least that's what the data shows with "harder" more potent drugs.

i'm not quite in all my many decades that i met anyone with cannabis induced paranoia. i HAVE met ppl who had bad reactions... like heart racing.

So the way different brains react to THC depends on their differences.

That is some real deep stable genius stuff there.

I want some of what they were smoking when they figured that one out.

Doobifidian stopped partaking a few years ago... pretty obviously.

Either that, or he's been on some paranoia-inducing crank.

You used to be pro-weed until you joined the trump cult.

Now you mock others for copying your own behavior.

I've experienced 99% good vibes, but I can think of maybe three times that I freaked out. Even then I knew what was happening and that it was all just my own brain messing with me.

You have to admit, it's pretty amazing that you can now read an article in mainstream media in which a legitimate researcher is quoted saying, "Monitor your use and if you're experiencing negative side effects, talk to your physician."

That statement struck my funny bone.

What can a physician tell you that you can't tell yourself? . . . If you're doing something that causes negative side effects, STOP what you're doing.

It all depends which region of the brain is effected primarily by ingestion, front or back. But what kind of pot are they testing? This dramatic change can be achieved just as easily by throwing away that green crap and smoking Columbian gold. I guarantee you the scientists in charge did not waste any Columbian gold on these stinking rats, so there study doesn't mean shut.

My buddy has severe ADHD, and when he tried bud for the first time his head was spinning, he felt sick and needed to lay down. He didn't touch it for years afterwards. Since he was prescribed Adderall he smokes all of the time with none of those negative effects.

That's the one person I have met with a negative reaction. One, over a decade back.

It's probable that the corpus callosum plays an important role in which hemisphere is more reactive than the other.

I have a friend who used to love weed as much as me... but said it starting giving him anxiety so he quit.
Lucky for me I have no issues

And I prefer Sativa.. my health keeps me fatigued and Indica knocks me out

What kind of weed were you smoking? Cannabis normally calms your stomach and increases your appetite.

Maybe you got a hold of some paraquat laced pot or even smoked some Gympie Gympie plant?

Don't smoke that! Don't even touch it! In fact, just thinking about that plant makes me gag. So thanks...Now I am gonna have to hit my vape to calm down.

Chemo patients will certainly attest to that fact.

The thing that ruined pot smoking for me was the price which climbed from $10/oz to $200/oz. I'd rather have a microbrew or fine glass of wine. It sure was fun while it lasted and better days lie ahead I'm sure. To which I would add aging hasn't done either habit much good.

That's when I built a grow room and grew my own. Going hydro was awesome but expensive. When I found out how much electricity cost I built a greenhouse.

You know what I discovered?? That ---- grows like a weed!

If you have a dry climate (and legal protections) you can grow that ---- right in your yard.

Now I pick up a oil cartridge at the local dispensary for $20.

That will last me weeks. I vape so I don't "smoke" it (much) anymore but I still grow it when I can. But, mostly to sell or give away to my friends.

$10 weed was in 1966 in California. In Connecticut after 1969 it was $20 until the Columbia weed became the normal
and the price rose to $30 /oz
Black Market in California reached a high of $200 plus before legalization. Now black market is about $100 /oz
My local grower now doesn't grow for anyone but herself as the price does not equal the cost of production with only 6 legal plants.
