Politico writes a piece about the moments when Trump found out about the Access Hollywood tape and how he managed to survive the controversy: "The group was paralyzed with silence. Finally, Kushner piped up. 'You know, I don't think it's all that bad.'"

That story is really more about Trump's supporters than him. That they continued to support a man who brags about assaulting women tells us everything we need to know about them. They are not good, decent people. They are racist scum who willingly support anyone who will carry the flag of racism for them. Don't tell me you're a Trump supporter but not a racist because I would call you just a pathetic liar. You can lie to yourself but that doen't change my opinion of you.

more of an indictment against main street media and the fact that a few mega corps own all of our TV radio and newspaper outlets now.
a lot of trump supporters wouldn't be..if we had access to timely facts reported truthfully.

That's somewhat fair 1947 but enough of his base knew about this and ignored it. If they wanted real news they could demand it, I don't think they want it. That's why they choose Fox News. Many of them have enough brain cells left in their heads to know exactly what they are doing. They are "good Germans" who didn't want to know why the air smelled of burning flesh. They knew but they thought they would be believed later when they pretended they didn't. Millions of Fox viewers know about children in cages right now, about children being separated from their parents, no....ignorance is not an excuse. Information is available to anyone who actually wants to know instead of just wanting an excuse to use when denying that they know the truth.

and it would be easier to agree with you if it weren't for the preponderance of evidence, accumulated from around the world, down through history, that the average person is a conflicted and amazingly unaware individual that life pretty much just "happens" to.
not so much "go with the flow" but more like "caught up in the circumstance"

"forgive them..for they know not what they do"

"forgive them..for they know not what they do" but some of them do know what they do and they just don't care. Most, probably driven by emotions not thoughts, looking for scapegoats for their problems...like brown people.

Well Thank Goodness Trump had the good sense not to underestimate the level of misogyny and hypocrisy of the typical GOP voter!

The perfect timing of Comey's reopening of the emails investigation killed the Access Hollywood story instantly.

Lots of folks who have never been in a locker room too. Maybe this country needs more exercise.

It "wasn't that bad" because it was used defensively in response to Podesta's emails, rather than offensively at an opportune time for maximum gain.

If it was used against him before the field narrowed, and before he had momentum, then it would have been a killer blow to the campaign. When there was only TurdCruz as opposition...well we know how it all ended.

While I agree it would have given the rest of the field more to use against Trump.

The guy came out of the gates swinging and instantly became the most popular candidate they've had.

Good thing the Russians pitched when they did.

What excellent timing! I am sure it was a coincidence that Humpy begged for their help that day tho. I have been assured that Humpy & Co. are way too dumb to collude.

But, it is amazing how a little leverage at just the right moment can avert a complete disaster.

Or ensure a complete disaster.

Russia, if you're listening, good job!

You've got the chicken before the egg. The media was sitting on the video at the behest of the DNC. GHBTP was their ace up their sleeve, and they grossly overestimated its impact. The DNC was completely caught off guard and pivoted to GHBTP to take the heat off Podesta.

Best line from the article:

"New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, playing the role of Hillary Clinton, was stationed adjacent to his opponent at a conference table"

...In a pant suit.
