Nothing to get shook up about. It was pretty small potatoes compared to others I've experienced.

Bakersfield, where the epicenter of the earthquake was, is also the epicenter of CA GOP country.

Actually the epicenter was at least 60-70 miles from Bakersfield although it was probably the largest city near the event, which was closer to Ridgecrest, CA. That being said, it was felt over a very wide area. We're 137 miles from the epicenter, in Irvine, and it was a real shaker down here, lasting close to 30 seconds. It's the strongest quake we've felt since we moved into our house 32 years ago. No damage but the chandelier was swinging like a pendulum and the house continued to creak even after the motion ceased.

Drought, flood, fire, drought, flood, fire, earthquake, drought, flood, fire, wash, rinse, repeat. But, the weather is nice.

Life in California.

Trump's FAULT!

CNN played the same house on fire over and over again for hours while discussing the earthquake on a split screen all day long, and they weren't the only ones beating the story to death. Pretty tame event compared to the hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding the country has endured of late.

Life in California is good, except for the traffic, an insidious problem that plagues metropolitan centers all over the country. But stuck in a car on a freeway parking lot with the stereo blasting is still better than a New York Subway ride.

We just got hit with another big one. It felt stronger than yesterday's 6.4. It certainly lasted longer and had more server shakes.

Here's an iPhone video that my wife took immediately after the shaking stopped but while the lights were still swinging like pendulums:

I am thinking Baker ... . while it does get hot there now, once the ocean breeze gets going, and plant a few trees, place will be right as rain.
